You can't go wrong with anything on this menu if you like Mexican food, but the carne asada is the best. Service is good. Don't miss the bar off the patio. Great place to meet for delicious drinks. Outside open air patio is beautiful on a summer evening in Tucson. Inside the restaurant can be a riot of activity and... More

If you are mexican food lover or just a regular eater, then you need to go to El Charro Cafe. The food is authentic mexican. Get the queso fundido melt. You will need to use the spoon to put it on the chip. You will just break the chip if you don't. I tried the chimichanga and it was good.... More

The food here is never disappointing. We had a great server and the food was great! I suggest visiting the Original El Charro. It is situated in the old part Tucson and the building is great. The Carne Seca is the best, hands down! Also the Enchiladas Del Rancho has a great cause!

This restaurant was highly rated. We were very disappointed with our food. Not much better than fast food. Smothered in sauce. I could not taste what was underneath. Atmosphere is bright and crowded. Would not recommend. Have had way better food.

El Charro is always pleasant and cheerful. Most of the time the food is good. Fish chowder is tasty.

My wife and I chose to arrive @ 9, just at the tail end of the Saturday night dinner crush. Glad we did as we were promptly seated at a desirable table - and service was friendly and well paced. The combination fajita plate (shrimp and steak) was delightful... We also shared a side salad with a chipotle cream dressing.... More

Loved this place for the food although $18-20 for an entree at a Mexican restaurant is getting a little pricey. When I went there was no wait so I cannot speak to the long wait times although I can see how this place could get pretty crowded at peak times. Their special Asada (hung on a fence for weeks or... We arrived at El Charro at about 6:30 on a Thursday evening and were told that it would be a 25 minute wait. The atmosphere was quite attractive and our Tucson friend assured us that the food was good so we stayed. What a mistake! Our friend's order was not as she ordered. My husband reported that his chicken mole... More

The tortilla soup was not that great, and the interesting sounding chicken dish stuffed with a tamale was spoiled by being overcooked. On the upside, the atmosphere is great as always and the margaritas were very good. We have eaten here before when it was good, but not this time.
