We had lunch at Tre Trattoria on their terrace. The setting is pretty, overlooking the Riverwalk and adjacent to the San Antonio Museum of Art. And although the day was blisteringly hot, the terrace is shaded and the fans work well. All the food we...had was excellent. I can particularly recommend the “Sammy” (an Italian sandwich). My wife liked her Caprese salad. And the Italian sodas are great on hot day. Service was friendly if a bit leisurely, but we weren’t in a rush (which was pretty clear). It was one of those places where we could strike up conversations with neighboring tables. Friendly, low key, a good value, and excellent food. What more could you want?More

Bland but expensive food. So terribly disappointing. No comparison to how it was pre-pandemic. Might as well have stayed home and ate saltines for lunch.

My wife and I went here for our anniversary, and the restaurant quality is all right - not great, not terrible. I had the Classic Campanelle Bolognese, which is actually really good, and my wife had a pizza, which was okay. The biggest disappointment was...the cocktail. I think Tre Trattoria's specialty is wine, which of course makes sense, so maybe steer clear of their cocktails. The bread was okay, nothing special. A pair of flies were hanging out on the window inside next to us, but they didn't bother us too much.More

The food, atmosphere and service were perfect. We really enjoyed it! We will definitely be back. Our table was outside on the river and although it was a hot day, it was cool under the balcony. They also had fans. It was a very relaxing...place to eat. We enjoyed everything!More

We came here for lunch on a Saturday and the location away from downtown but still overlooking the San Antonio River was nice. The dessert we had, a soft shortbread type cake with a lemon ricotta cream filing on top and sweet glaze, was nothing...short of phenomenal. One of the best desserts I ever had and surely the best on this trip. That’s the good news. The bad - even that amazing dessert can’t get me to come back here for anything else. Foremost, the service is atrocious. 35 minutes wait to get two drinks. No, not mixed drinks. Just two sodas. Overall lunch took 1 hour and 45 minutes. Lunch. Just lunch. And all we got were two appetizers and one main course. Plus the dessert. My wife ordered coffee. We cancelled it. We had already finished dessert and 20 minutes waiting for coffee after waiting already almost two hours for lunch, you just want to scream. No...it wasn’t too busy. When we left there were two tables. That’s it. No...they weren’t understaffed. These folks just don’t really pay attention and that’s it. Gotta own it. As for food, it’s nothing to write home about. The white beans appetizer was terrible and obviously made by a cook, not a chef and not someone who knows what to do. It was a plate of white beans with spices that someone I guess squeezed a shot of lemon over. Bland, flat, overly basic, it was desperately under-spiced and needed a ridiculous amount of salt and pepper to eat, something the cook/chef should know by now. My burrata was good. Better than most. My wife’s fish was good. Not better than most. Overall, this is an ok place for food, a good place for location and atmosphere and a horrific place for wait and service. It’s right by the art museum. Same property even. If I was at the museum I’d come back here just for that dessert. But I’d never come back for anything else. Too little for too long a wait.More

I had called in on Easter weekend dinner. They asked if it was a special event and i informed it was my wife's birthday. I also took the outdoor patio seating. Parking is opposite the museum for 5 dollars. The menu is very limited and...meat options absent. I ordered the Soppresetta pizza and since it looked very bland as described in the menu, i requested them to add onion and jalapenos. It was mentioned the pizza will take time and be ready upwards of 25 mins. However, we were served with what seemed like a luke warm pizza in under 15 mins which was more like a flatbread and was just very dry. It looked like heated in the microwave. The salt levels were off the chart. The Italian bread and Mozella cheese starter was a thorough disappointment. We just ended up eating the bread. The cheese was more like a rubber mass that we could not event cut. We also ordered the half chicken and it lacked any semblance of flavor. Our bill came out to be $90 and we felt like it was a complete ripoff since we did not enjoy any of the food. When i looked at the bill, i noticed we were charged $2 each for onion ( literally 2 strands ) and 3-4 pieces of Jalapeno's. They did not even remember the birthday event and just handed the bill. We just walked out in utter disappointment. We left feeling hungry and angry. All reviews talk about the river and patio seating. We found it very ordinary and nothing exquisite as some of the reviews are stating here. You can find better seating at the restaurant next door with some good options and lively music Overall, you are charged for the location but the quality and taste of food will leave you hungry with a empty wallet and utter disappointment.More

GO. JUST GO THERE. Thank me later. This place is just so good, I lack that words to convey how fantastic it is. The service was outstanding, the food made me want to cry with joy, the wine list was diverse, and the property is...stellar. Everything about this place is fine dining level, but in a warm- pretense free- environment. We tried an assortment of items off the menu- a few apps, salads, entrees, sides, and desserts- and they were all incredibly. The bolognese in particular was ridiculously good and definitely lived up its reputation as being their signature. *When* you go there (because if you have taste buds that work you must- or resign yourself to a life half lived), try the Cacio y Pepe Devil eggs, the bolognese, and the Nutella x3 for sure. Also i have no pictures because I was utterly enveloped and too busy eating and enjoying the experience. Well done Tre Trattoria- I will be seeing you again soon!More

The outside dining is very nice. Service was excellent....they really succeed in creative quality dining. One one exception was the lemon ricotta cake....which xery dry and hard....overcooked?...the accompanying very compote was superb...Wine offerings, altho limited, were very good. Would I return...of course! They excelled overall! Kudos to...staff & management.More
