Family owned gelateria in the La Villita Historic of San Antonio. This is a great place to stop in for pizza, sandwiches, salads and pastries while shopping or sight-seeing. And the ice cold gelato is so welcome on a hot day. My favorite flavor was...More

We stopped here on our walk because we wanted some great gelato. The guy behind the counter was very nice, making suggestions, explaining flavors, etc. It's a little pricey ($7 for a two scoop cup) and the gelato was too icy, not smooth. Of course,...More

Ciao Dave, thank you for sharing your experience. We're sorry that your visit was less than desirable, however, our gelato is not solely based on Roman tradition. As with all Italian cuisine, gelato, is highly variable depending on region; and since our family strives to...More

After spending a VERY HOT afternoon visiting the San Antonio missions, we searched for ice cream, but could find any parking downtown (we didn't want to pay the all-dat fee that many lots charge) so we headed back to the hotel… and lo and behold,...More

Nothing really stands out here but nothing is a turn off except that it seems to close early if it doesn't have customers. The ice cream is good, the paninis so-so, and the pizza, well, go to a pizzeria. Stick with gelato

We stopped by for a pizza and left really full! The crust was crispy and tasted amazing. The toppings tasted fresh and had a lot on it. My daughter got the pepperoni pizza, but it was a little spicy. But she at the rest easily.

Just a short walk from our hotel we loved this place. The gelato was fabulous and we had great service too. The pizza smelled so good. But we couldn't eat another bite. I would definitely go back.

Pizza was good, sandwiches were so-so but gelato is AMAZING. The cielo flavor, made with balsamic vinegar is so unique - never tasted anything like it. Stelina, with caramel and almonds, is delicious.

I always stop by Rio De gelato when I'm in town on business. As a New Yorker, I know pizza! This is some of the best authentic thin crust fire oven baked pizza anywhere. The owner, who makes pretty much everything himself, and picks the...More
