This place will conquer the cravings of a couple that have different tastes. My wife had the street tacos and they were excellent. I had the chicken fried steak which was also very good. Service was second to none. Only complaint was that the chips were the harder variety and not as tasry

Loved Chimichanga made with Fajita Chicken followed by Chips and Salsa. Fresh Avacado with all other sides on side helped me avoid most of Sour Cream while using avocado and salsa. Great food.

We lived in San Antonio in the 1980's and were in town on vacation. I remembered the Alamo Cafe from our days here, and really looked forward to trying their legendary chicken-fried steak again. Absolutely terrific, and just as good as I remembered. I got to wash it down with a tall Shiner Bock beer, and added a couple of their... More

Needed a quick lunch with a Tex-Mex flavor - we were lucky the wait was not too long. This is a busy place with lots of seating. We've eaten here before and always had good service and good food. We happened to be here during Spring Break; our server stated that she had been very busy; she was cheerful and... More

Alamo cafe is the first stop we make when we visit San Antonio. The tortillas are made on site and smell absolutely heavenly. Whatever you order is made better with fresh tortillas. Even the tortilla soup, with chunks of chicken and slices of avocado, makes for a real Texas treat. No dressing needed for salads, just use their amazing salsa.... More

This is one of my usual stops for lunch when I visit San Antonio. One of the things I like most about it is its consistency. Always a good meal prepared the same way every time! Staff was friendly and the restaurant is sporting a new expansion with more seating, a bar, and covered patio. Great Tex-Mex!

Alamo is one of the number one picks for locals. It has a nice atmosphere with both inside and outside dining. Love their relleno, flour tortillas, chicken fried steak, and their salads. Enchiladas are just so-so and fajitas are good, but not best in town. Kids love their queso.

The brisket quesadillas were delicious. The flour tortillas were up there with the best I've ever had. Chips and salsa was good. But that is where my recommendations end. The restaurant is HUGE! Several large dining areas and many large groups celebrating birthdays very loudly in the echoing room! We could hardly talk at our own table. The carpet was... More
