We have been dining with Tip Top for many years, and the food and the service only improve with time. We dined there for lunch on 4/17/2017 and again left the restaurant so full and happy we could hardly move. Their new lunch offerings are very good. You will see us there many times again.

The last few times we went to TipTop, the food has been constantly going down in quality. The "new" owners spent money on nice shirts and badges for workers, but seems to be buying a lesser quality of food. Servings are inconsistant now. Sometimes the food is undercooked or at times burned, plus the flavor of the mainstays have changed... More

This local favorite has been serving San Antonio since 1938!! And their southern style cooking is the best in town. So whether you live here or just visiting, be sure to stop by and bring an appetite!!

This is supposed to be a top notch diner, Guy Feria did a review. My meal could have been better. I got the Chicken Fried chicken, it was dry, the crust was unevenly around the chicken causing big chunks of breading, the mashed potatoes were cold. My mom got the beef short ribs, hers was great! I'd be willingly to... More

We were in S.A. For the weekend and looked up classic San Antonio restaurants. The Tip Top was among them. The half order of rings was enough for 3. I had the rib eye. For almost being a "road house" the steak was very good. Cooked just medium... The waitress was attentive without being overbearing and the tea was good... More

I came here because it's been open for a long time so figured it must be good and it was on triple D (granted that was 10 years ago) and something must have changed since Guy showed up and old time regulars have to be keeping it open because it was nothing to write home about. The food lacks seasoning... More

I drove into town to this restaurant because I had been wanting to try their food. I ordered the chicken fried steak which was heavily breaded and so large that it covered the plate. Not too much flavor to the breading or to the white gravy which was underneath the steak. There was a choice of sides but apparently only... More

We had not visited Tip Top Cafe in probably 20 years or so. It was a weekday night and although fairly busy, we didn't have to wait. Our server was outstanding! Overall the food was good and plentiful. The only thing we didn't care for was the chocolate meringue pie. It was more gelatin based and sort of tasteless with... More

Had the chicken fried chicken and the coating on the chicken was so thick that there was hardly any chicken once you got to it. Service sucked. Waitress were more involved doing standing around than waiting on customers.
