It is a very charming place, the tree in the restaurant and the tilted floors gave the place great character. Although crowded on a Wednesday night, all of the staff was delightful and our waitress was great about coming by to check how we were...More

We tried this restaurant one evening on a trip to San Antonio primarily because the reviews were good and the prices were moderate.Upon entering it was clear this was a very old building...perhaps in need of demolition! We normally ask for a booth but took...More

Been around for EVER. Simple menu (not a bad thing) that focuses on steaks. Good beer, wine and alcohol selection. BTW - the queso and chips are the same from Grist Mill in Gruene.

We searched for a locals-type restaurant to avoid the River Walk chains and Josephine's was great. Our server, Esmerelda, was really busy yet she managed to give us great service! Our steaks were perfect.

It is a very unique place considering the age of the building and the tree growing out of the middle of it. The whole place looks very old and has a lot of "character". With the character come the downsides. The downsides are that t...More

Food is awesome. The spinach salad is out of this world. Very crowded and extremely unique. A tree, a rather large tree is growing in the middle of the restaurant. You will leave smelling like food...ventilation is poor. There is an outdoor eating spot.

When places claim to be old timey roadhouses and rave about their “famous” chicken fried steak, then they need to live up to their hype. That wasn’t our experience. We didn’t mind waiting for a table. Lunchtime was crowded. We got one right at the...More

Had an overall nice experience here. The restaurant is next to a busy street (as well as a 281 off-ramp). The dining room is relatively small, so between the traffic and the size of the place, there was constant "bustling" during our visit. I started...More

Had the chicken lunch special on 9/28. It was delicious. Our waitress was attentive without hovering. I highly recommend the food and the turtle cheesecake.

Lunch on a Saturday. Seated immediately. Ordered the Spinach and Artichoke dip. It was very good. Got a second batch of chips to go with it. Watch out for the uneven floor. We had two steaks and some salmon. Steaks very good. The salmon was...More
