This is a typical hotel Sunday brunch. Sliced roast beef, omelettes, etc. They kept running out of the popular items such as eggs benedict and mac & cheese. The desserts were uninspired. I ate mostly cold boiled shrimp, which was good, but not a value...More

My wife & I happen to visit the Meger Hotel the day before Easter to check out Teddy Roosevelt's Rough Rider's story. We saw that the hotel was having a Buffet Dinner on Easter so we went to sign up. They stated that they were...More

Had the buffet lunch here as it was included in our spa package. Buffet wasn't bad, but had a very small selection. 2 soups, one bowl of salad, no toppings to add to the salad, and some cold seafood options, but we don't eat seafood....More

We loved our waitress! She was the best thing about our dining experience. The food was not good at all as far as we were concerned. My mixed veggies were undercooked and the breaded cutlet and gravy was tough. We hear the breakfast buffet is...More

We ate here on our first night in the hotel. The food was OK, nothing too flash really. The restaurant was pretty much empty, and by 9pm we were the only people in there. They have a strange take on baked potato, which they wrap...More

I had the opportunity to dine here a couple of times over my stay; once for a breakfast buffet, and a second time for a lunch buffet. All in all, this isn't a bad option. The breakfast buffet was generally good. I was a bit...More

This is a quiet, traditional buffet restaurant at lunch that's popular with tourists and downtown workers. It's location in the venerable Menger Hotel next to the Alamo. You can buy a cold buffet -- soup, salad and sandwiches -- or, for a bit more, add...More

The best service ever received in San Antonio. We had Sunday brunch. As usual unless you are a massive "eater" it was over stimulation on steroids. But we choose the brunch therefore we participated. The food was amazingly fresh and delicious. Service could not have...More

My husband and I had lunch here with friends. We arrived too late for the buffet lunch. We had soup and half a sandwich. It was very good. The service was attentive. What impressed me most about the restaurant was the white tablecloth elegant ambiance....More

Would this be the best place to take a group of home schooled girls to experience authentic recipes from the colonial era in America? I am interested in perhaps something like brunswick stew, spoonbread, etc. They will have viewed some recipes from cookbooks from Williamsburg, VA, etc.

Hello. The Colonial Room does not serve American colonial food. I would categorize the menu as continental cuisine. I imagine the term "colonial" refers to the fact that Texas was colonized by Americans when it was still... More

Built as an addition to the original hotel and later remodeled by San Antonio architect Atlee B. Ayres in 1912, the Colonial Room Restaurant reflects the prevailing neoclassical style of its time. Decades of elaborate balls and parties have been hosted in this room.Among the celebrities who have dined here are Presidents Grant and McKinley, Robert E. Lee, and French actress Sarah Bernhardt. The Colonial Room Restaurant's famous mango ice cream was served at both of President Clinton’s inaugurations. Open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, the Colonial Room Restaurant features a fabulous noontime brunch and traditional entrees such as prime rib au jus and lamb shank with linguini. Don't miss the popular Sunday brunch buffet, which tastes even better at a table in the garden courtyard.
