Our outdoor dining experience combined gourmet food with a campground ambiance. We thoroughly enjoyed both qualities. With another couple, we shared plates and sampled cocktails surrounded by trees, brambles and moss covered logs. Dogs and cats wandered in the bushes. Heavy colorful carpets covered several massive log benches where other diners snuggled around a huge fire pit. The scene had... More

We had a lovely dinner at Duck Soup Inn. The service was very attentive. The food was interesting and unique. The portions, though, were on the quite small size. We split a dessert and it was barely big enough for one person. However, the food here was much more interesting than other places on the island. Make a reservation during... More

We were lead to the Duck Soup Inn by a recommendation from the concierge at the Island Inn, and a what a great referral it was! Our dinner was outstanding, the wait staff welcoming and available (without hovering) and dessert fabulous. Highly recommended.

This restaurant came highly recommended for an anniversary dinner however, we unfortunately did not get the opportunity to experience the so-called best part of the restaurant, the food. When we arrived we were told the restaurant only accept reservations and cannot accommodate walk-ins. We then attempted to make a reservation for a time during the next remaining three days of... I understand this place used to be great but we found it very disappointing on our recent visit. We were seated promptly but it took our waiter at least 10 minutes before he arrived at our table. We ordered cocktails and told him we weren't having wine yet the large glasses remained on our small table the entire evening. The... More

Who would guess that you could find seriously fine dining on a fairly remote island with a small population far from the capital? My brother sniffed this place out via word of mouth from friends and kudos to him because the whole experience was unexpectedly first rate. Funky decor, inventive menu, superb flavours, beautiful produce, great wine and cocktails and... More

They have a limited menu (not just Duck though). What they do have, they make very well. There is enough variety on the menu to get the type of food you want, but there will only be one choice of that type. We had a late lunch (see another review) so we were wanting a lighter dinner. This is the... More

We have been coming to Duck Soup Inn every year for the last 15 years. We loved the food under the previous owner. The new owners tried to keep with the traditions of the past. In our opinion it was not working. This last visit was a pleasant surprise. Yes they now have everything ala carte. That did not bother... More

This was by far one of the best meals of my life. The menu completely assembled based on local ingredients -- and super eclectic flavors. The beef with fir tip gravy...mind-blowing! Duck breast, pots de creme, insane! The service was fantastic and the environment was stunning -- we sat in the outside garden surrounded by gorgeous fir trees, complete with... More

The Duck Soup Inn provides a high-end dining experience in a lovely, restful environment on San Juan ISland. My wife had eaten here some 30 years ago, and we understand the establishment had undergone a few change of ownership since then. We were returning from English Camp and had called ahead for reservations. It was good we did. The place... More
