If you want to be treated badly by someone and addressed in a hostile manner, while consuming $20+ plates covered in MSG, this is right up your alley. If not, don't waste your time in this dirty hovel of an excuse to pass along food...More

What kind of hostile manner are you talking about? Babaluu's is not that kind of place. We pride ourselves with impeccable service and excellent quality food. Our ratings throughout the internet are all 4-5 star reviews. We have doubts that you have truly dined in...More

This is a hidden gem which many locals have yet to visit. We live in Santa Fe and have enjoyed several wonderful meals here. The owner's wife is a charmig hostess greeting all with a smile and hearty welcome. The last time we visited was...More

My husband and I travel in our RV and always look to TripAdvisor for dinner suggestions. Last night we had dinner here and were very happy with our meals. The Refugee Platter which featured pulled pork with a faintly fruity BBQ sauce, fried plantains, black...More

Wow, this was an unexpected delight to find in New Mexico. Five of us had Sunday lunch here and we all enjoyed whatever we ordered from the Caesar salad to the roasted pork platter. Each dish was delicious and had a wonderful presentation. The roasted...More

We were looking for something different on Tripadvisor. This looked interesting. Don't believe the map on Tripadvisor, use Google. Once we found the place in the middle of nowhere, the owner greeted us. She was like a character out of a 1940's Technicolor musical. But...More

I love Babaluu's, it's quaint, genuine and delicious. They sometimes have live music too which always makes dinner out more enticing. We've been here three times now for dinner, all at different times of the year, and every time we've gone it's been packed, the...More

Description
Hello from Mary and Chef Amaury, the owners of Babaluu’s. We closed our restaurant in Santa Fe 10/26/13. Thanks to our fans for the loyal support. We love everyone that touched our hearts and lives the last 2 years. We had many wonderful FUN and DELICIOUS times at 3810 Highway 14. We look forward to many more Babaluu Adventures. We will continue off site Cuban Pig Roasts, Catered Lunch and Dinner Parties, Private Chef Parties, Cooking Classes, Weddings, Film Wrap Parties and Cuban style Theme Parties. Our projects: Fusion Food Line and opening a Cuban restaurant/deli/bakery in 2014/2015. 1st reason we left location; difficult heating and A/C issues; owners wanted to sell building as is and not make those improvements. Summertime was a struggle to open lunch & early dinner because of the heat. Wintertime was so cold inside hard to open many days. No matter how many a/c’s or heaters we had running, we could not operate a successful restaurant under those conditions. The patio roof continued to leak so it was hard to book reservations there too. The patio was spectacular with a view. We loved our funky Babaluu’s. With proper improvements, we would have stayed, perfect location for us. Great parking, fantastic view, dance floor, great for parties we loved many things about 3810 Highway 14. We outgrew it, we needed better conditions. 2nd reason: A popular publication Local Flavor did us wrong. The Balloon Fiesta edition 10/1/13 said we had closed our doors. They never authorized it with us. It was untrue! We lost thousands of $$$. We were going to close the restaurant after the holidays anyway but decided to close sooner than later; business went way down, customers cancelled parties and reservations, many called us wondering was it true, we heard you closed? We also found out many other media NM businesses read that and printed it too. It was a mess! We had to make a difficult decision, it was a no win situation, it wasn’t profitable for us to continue staying there.Good news though…Babaluu’s is still here and strong! Contact Mary, the Cuban’s wife for a quote on a party or event. We come as a group, the Private Chef, his wife, Mary & our professional team.Interested in exploring investment opportunities with Babaluu’s Cocina Cubana?
