Was slightly disappointed, based on where it is located. My husband did like his burger though. My french onion soup was good. But not over the top. Our waitress was very nice and very prompt.

We had dinner here and it was great. We had the nachos, the filet mignon, and the hamburger. Everything was cooked the way we asked and the “please leave off” was left off! Ashley was our server and she was very good. Restaurant was busy...but we didn’t feel rushed at all. Staff was attentive without hovering.More

We were in vacation and decided to have dinner here for our anniversary. They do not accept reservations so it was first come first serve. The restaurant is in the mimslyn inn. They had live music on the night we were there. Overall the food...was just ok, I felt a little underwhelmed. We had the oysters rockefeller as an appetizer. For our meals we had lobster ravioli and shrimp (I wasn’t a fan of the sauce), and the swordfish. Dining experience was ok overall, I guess I expected more.More

We had dinner at this casual and quiet bar while visiting Luray. It is located on the lower level of the Mimslyn Inn. We went on a Saturday evening just after 5 pm and there were not many people there at that time. Our waitress...brought us water and menus promptly. I had the filet which was cooked perfectly and just as I ordered. My wife had a mixed grill: chicken, shrimp, and rabbit sausage (a surprise, but very tasty!). We both were pleased with our choices. The staff was very courteous and the area was quite spacious and clean. We were in and out in an hour. Great meal, great service. Will definitely go back when in the area.More

We planned to eat here. On arrival porch dining seemed to be going well but the basement Speakeasy bar smelled of breakfast and looked like a very middle of the road hotel buffet area. Would recommend the Valley Cork or Il Vesuvio any time…..

The Speakeasy is a warm, casual and friendly place to have dinner. My server was very warm and attentive. The food was good, and there was easygoing live music the night I dined there. There aren't may choice for dining in Luray. This is one...place I'd return to.More

Have been vacationing in Luray for years and always ate at the speakeasy at least a couple times during our stays. During our most recent visit, the food was excellent as expected, but the music was so loud it hurt my ears. We had arrived...at opening on a Wednesday evening. I asked our server if she could turn the music down, which she did, but either someone turned it back up, or it just seemed like it because of the type of music. It’s hard to have a conversation over dinner with AC/DC drowning things out. We ate quickly to get away from the noise. If I were there to drink and party with friends, it might have been okay. I had really hoped for a pleasant evening out and a good meal like we’ve experienced there in the past.More

Went to the Speakeasy for a special birthday celebation with friends. Food was very good. Two of us had the swordfish and the other the Beef tips. Everything was flavorful. The presentation was special. Servers were very attentive to us. There were many options so...it was hard to choose what to order. We really enjoyed the live music which started just as we were leaving. The MImslyn bulding is elegant with grand furnishings and architecture. That made it even more special. I think it might be the best place in the area for a nice dinner.More

Looking for dinner the Monday night before we headed home from Luray, we had a little trouble finding someplace that was open, but when we came across the Speakeasy Bar at the Mimslyn Inn, the decision was made! We were quickly seated and our server...was over quickly to take our drink orders and review the specials. I opted for the Bistro Filet (8oz filet, Brandy Peppercorn Cream, Whipped Potatoes, and Roasted Asparagus, $25.95) off of the regular-menu. The filet was cooked absolutely perfectly, one of the best I’ve had. My other half ordered Grilled Salmon option from the special menu – but unfortunately recede the Salmon Burger, an item of the regular menu. While mistakes to happen, this was a bit disappointing from the perspective of (1) the restaurant was not very busy and (2) no form comp was offered – even a drink or desert would be normal in most places. After the wait for what was actually ordered, the salmon dish ordered was very good. Drinks/cocktails: There were several options for local sprits and wines, and the Manhattan I received with our pre-dinner drink was actually a local (Virginia) rye, but I do not recall the distiller. It was good, although a little spicy for a Manhattan (I’m a “proper Manhattan” traditionalist), but good nonetheless. I also was interested in trying one or two of the Virginia wines, and while they were out of the Cab Franc I really wanted to try, their own Mimslyn Inn Red Blend ($11/8oz) went well with my filet. Overall, we both like the space, and service, and both meals were very good and we certainly would god back.More

Visited this place with my wife celebrating her birthday in Luray. While it is tricky to find FINE dining comparable to city life (DC, MIAMI, LV) we did stumble upon this spot. Overall not bad- The servers were friendly and didn't mind sharing their recommendations...(which were spot on) about the menu. Good crab dip, Good Mussels, and the dessert was tasty too. Not a super fancy place... But pretty solid.More

Good menu, nice ambiance. Good service. Food was served cool (barely warm) and veal tough. We asked them to try again and things were ever so slightly better. Potatoes still not warm. Good flavor to venison meatloaf, and sauces were nice. Seafood bisque as a...starter was the highlight. Disappointing.More

We randomly came across Speakeasy Bar when we noticed the gorgeous Mimslyn Inn! The service was amazing, the hostess was really nice & attentive and made some really good recommendations. The food was amazing!!!! We had the mussels & duck empanadas to start & the...duck & chicken cordon bleu as entree… could literally have taken seconds to go! Would definitely recommend & hope to come back someday.More

We enjoyed a pleasant evening and meal with family members. Our waiter was pleasant and made good recommendations. The menu was varied and offered something for everyone. We enjoyed the duck breast and pork chops especially. The deserts were all house made and delicious. The...breads were also made in house. The decor and ambiance were great and the staff was welcoming. All in all a pleasant evening in a very nice facility.More
