We spent the night at the Rose Island lighthouse and felt like chowder for lunch after we left the island. My husband has always heard of the Black Pearl for chowder. He said it was famous. It was average and very expensive. If a bowl...More

We are here twice because the food was so good. The clam chowder was divine!! The tuna appetizer was excellent and salad which we added blackened salmon was great. Quaint atmosphere.

My husband and I LOVE clam chowder. Someone had recommended this place for the best. The chowder was extremely thin and lacking flavor. We paid $20.00 for two bowls of chowder - very overpriced for less than average chowder. Would not recommend!

New England clam chowder of course. This is a must stop if in Newport. Good bar and atmosphere. Better chowder I have had and I’ve been eating it my entire life.

Went on a Friday afternoon for a late lunch. It was very busy and limited seating. Reuben, shrimp and scallops, chowder were very tasty. Service was a bit slow, but they were swamped.

This place was recommended by friends and they were not wrong. Went there for lunch and managed to get seated with only a short wait. Clam chowder was as advertised, great! Split one of their sandwiches and it was good that we did because it...More

It's my understanding that the Tavern side is open for lunch and dinner, but the Commodore's Room only has dinner hours.
