They serve awesome Japanese food. I like their pork and fish quite much. It opens at 5pm and reservation is recommended.

Celebrated our anniversary here and we are already planning our next visit. Wafu steak was flavorful along with the eggplant and mushroom medley. The star of the show for us was the sashimi platter B. Every slice was a bit of heaven-so fresh and so delectable.

Outstanding fresh fish. The chirashi was smaller than expected but was worth the price. The sizzling wafu steak, shrimp tempura, miso butterfish and deep fried crispy flounder were all excellent! The service was good, but always had to ask for refills of tea and water. Highly recommend and we'll be back soon. Recommend making reservations since it gets crowded and... More

You can do a lot worse in Izakaya land in Honolulu. Great service, good sushi. Saba shio, ohitashi, yaki udon--not bad for the standards.

Izakaya Nonbei was not a restaurant we were planning to visit, but because of a traffic delay that caused us to miss the closing time of another restaurant, we ended up driving around Olu Street trying to find a place that is still open to serve dinner. We were glad we found this place! From the outside, the restaurant does... More

Made a last minute business dinner reservation for 4 at this small Japanese restaurant located off the main road in a residential neighborhood. Our party was seated at a regular table. When available, you can request seating at one of several low rise tables. Service is excellent. Food and drink orders are quickly taken. One of the sake specialties is... More

We got the butterfish, salmon/otoro/hamachi/ebi sashimi, the uni sushi, the crab avocado salad, and the udon. Everything was amazing. Great deal too!

It was great at the inception...it was sold and renovated, then it wasn't as good...but whatever happened since then...Izakaya Nonbei is fabulous now! It was part of a progressive dinner in Honolulu on a short layover. We were in and out in half an hour, having regaled ourselves with Ankimo (monkfish liver) with a delicate momiji-oroshi, Hokkaido Uni, Botan Amaebi... More

Absolutely the best Japanese restaurant experience on Oahu! From the greeting to the "good night" and everything in between, excellent!

This is a restaurant we discovered last year. It is run very professionally, the interior is spotless and clean, with a very friendly wait staff and owner. The chef takes careful steps in his food preparation and it's obvious he takes great pride in his work. You must try the BUTTERFISH, one of the best on the island. I would... More
