Mathieu, the owner, is very helpful and has created a wonderful hidden gem. Best Guinness I've had outside of the UK. Looking forward to my next visit.

An Irish pub in the middle of nowhere France. The food was really good and the owner is really nice.

We have been coming here for a few years now when we visit the Dordogne area and are always impressed by the friendly welcome, the wonderful views and, above all else, the fantastic food!! We look forward to coming back next year.

The first time I went there, was in September 1993. Back then, it was still called "l'auberge du sol". Since, we return every two years and while there, we visit the restaurant 2 to 3 times per week. You can have authentic dishes from the Perigord, with a specialisation in poultry. The ingredients they use are of very high quality... More

We visited the Black Duck for my sons 11th birthday. After visiting the pub last year whilst on holiday we had given our guests high expectations of the place. The food was all good, the snails proving to be especially popular. I had a goats cheese starter and fish and chip main. All seemed happy with the meals. Our vegetarian... More

We had a couple of meals here. The food was lovely - quite duck based as you might imagine, but also great fish and chips! Very popular with the locals. Very friendly service. The outside terrace with its view over the countryside was glorious.

I had a great dinner in this pub/tavern. My duck was well prepared and delicious. The whole meal went together and the dessert was yummy. Would eat here again in a flash!

We arrived here as know the owner and is a favourite venue to eat with family and friends. The answer phone message we had left trying to book a table had not been received but we were still welcomed and a table found for us quickly. The service did not seem as good as usual and it was only that... More

The Black Duck is well worth a visit. The landlord is very friendly and it was a pleasure to visit. The food was great, the Guinness is as good as the UK and I cannot wait to make this my local when we move to The Dordogne later this year. Ten out of ten for doing such a fine job... More

Walking distance from Les Charmes de Carlucet. Food was wonderful - foie gras & duck confit & potatoes sarladaises. We went on a Friday night and it was packed with locals, so it was a nice, non-touristy experience.
