Typical "tapas" place! A lot of variety, the wines are excellent and not expensive. The place is cosy and very nicely decorated.

We found very few places open on a Monday evening in Aracena. Most of the town is completely unspoilt by tourism, inevitably the area by the caves hasn't entirely escaped! It was therefore with some concern we set off for this restaurant, whilst food and service were ok, it was catering for the tourists flocking to the caves. Was it... More

My friends and I went to Montecruz twice during our weekend stay in Aracena. We were a group of 5 with 3 vegetarians and a coeliac and the staff were really patient and accommodating, as well as being very friendly. The food was something else! It's a fantastic menu with lots of choice and absolutely everything we tried was incredible.... More

We've eaten here now on three occasions and each time have had a really enjoyable meal. The menus were varied and most enjoyable and what we particularly liked was the staff slipping in extra dishes for us to try once they realised we were keen to experience as much of the local cuisine as possible. This made our dining experience... More

On a recent walking holiday in Andalucia, my sister and I stumbled upon the delightful Montecruz restaurant in Aracena. It was dark and lashing with rain and Montecruz was like a little beacon of life and light when everything was closed up with shutters down. We were warmly welcomed by all the staff and our waiter helped guide us through... More

Very good bar style tapas dinner. Not as sophisticated as others but very good food (especially the moussaka with mushrooms and the arroz with jamon). Quiet at 8.15pm but lively by 9. We (2 people) had a small beer each, 5 tapas and one desert, a bottle of house rioja, a large bottle of mineral water and one coffee, all... More

We went to Restaurante Montecruz twice for dinner and both times were fantastic. Interesting variety of tapas based on local produce. Everything we ordered was so tasty (the ham!)and reasonably priced. Although not a traditional Spanish dish the Ensulada Rusa is absolutely superb- compliments to the chef👌🏻Staff were very friendly and explained all of the dishes on the menu. Definitely... More

Recommended by our hostess at villa Rosillo and absolutely fantastic. Good simple food with a twist of sophistication and great service from Hugo. We'd like to take this restaurant home with us. And the house red is delicious. Enjoy!

we've eaten inside and on the street. The service is good in either place. The cuisine is good and varied and typical Andalucian Spanish. Its a restaurant to sit and talk, eat when you want and enjoy the ambience.
