This place could be such an amazing venue with its lovely location and stunning views. Unfortunately on a couple of visits the food has been poor, including one visit having satay chicken and what was served was actually a supermarket processed chicken on a stick that you shove in the oven with a bowl of peanut butter.... The staff always... More

A good atmosphere with locals and visitors mixing. The premises seem to have three main areas, with one used mainly for drinking, chatting and tv; one used for dining; and the third being an extension to the dining side in the form of a conservatory type of area. The food was good. One portion of moussaka with garlic bread, one... More

How disappointed was I on a recent visit to The Jolly Roger, when I discovered that they only had bottled beer, no card machine to pay through, no satellite TV. Not exactly what I envisaged when I went for a quick Sunday lunch time pint!

Have been 3 times for midweek lunch now, fixed price 3 course menu at £9.99 is good value, reasonable portion sizes so you should be pleasantly full but not stuffed. Full A La Carte also available. Service is leisurely, which is fine, allow at least 90 mins, if you are in a hurry go elsewhere. Fixed price menu is traditional... More

Four of us arrived on Wednesday evening 7pm with no booking. Less than a dozen people in pub. After being told by bar staff that 3 of the real ales were off plus a couple of lagers not available, we selected from what was available. Asked for menus to be asked if we had booked a table. Having been told... More

The best sunday roast in town, it is a little bit more expensive than some but the food & service is excellent.

Went in Sunday at 220. Website shows lunch served til 3. Empty tables in bar and restaurant and the girl behind the bar says they're fully booked. No apology. No interest in our business. Won't be back

On a cool Saturday morning, after a stroll along Priddys Hard, this hostelry spelt warmth and friendliness. A solid, if not overly different, menu of family favourites, ours being well cooked and presented, and plenty of room for eating and drinking. Views across Portsmouth Harbour are quite amazing with something happening to watch on the water all the time. In... More

My mother and I had the 3 course lunch special, very good portions, French onion soup was so delicious as was the lamb roast, would definitely recommend going for lunch, service was both attentive and friendly. Will definitely be back.

I went for a nice evening out and was treated by friendly faces. Staff were attentive and polite. I must remark on the efficiency of the service. Although it would be nice to have just one server the teamwork did work well. The ambience at the bar was pleasant, you'd expect stressed workers on a busy night but instead the... More
