Have you tried introducing a 12 year old to afternoon tea? I was struggling. All of this when a friend of mine was with her family was also having afternoon tea, also with her family but at the Ritz in London! Anyway, in the end I said something along the lines of 'Oh don't worry about it, you'll like it!'... More

Thank you for taking time to write a review, we are so glad you enjoyed your afternoon tea and even managed to convince a 12 year old lad to join you, he certainly did manage to finish it all! It would be great to see you again when you next visit Askrigg. More

The tearoom is dark, old fashioned, dingy and rather unwelcoming. The woman serving was much the same. She was what I’d call 'adequate' but was not friendly or helpful. I got the impression she was the owner but I may be wrong. The lemon sponge was delicious, as was the tea but I always want more of a tea room... More

This is a very old building, almost 500 years old and still retains it historic character. If you enjoy living in a historic building this is the place to stay. Alison and Mike were great hosts and they looked after us very well.

Stayed there for a weekend so we could go walking. Both Mike and Alison are really welcoming and informative. The room we were in was really comfortable, with a great view of the church. Very nice village too, with excellent pubs.

Have just spent the last 5 days here with my other half & would happily stay again. The room we stayed in was at the back & overlooked the courtyard, so no views but was so comfortable. Lovely comfy double bed, & there was a 2 seater sofa in the room, which was perfect to relax on after a couple... More

If you've been out walking near Askrigg in the Dales why not stop at Sykes Tea Room for a nice cupper. This is a basic tea room serving a selection of teas, coffees and lite bites. The cakes in particular are home baked and very good. Not the place if you want something substantial, but a pleasant rest stop.

We called for afternoon tea and had a lovely pot of tea, toasted teacakes and cheese scones. The lady who served us was lovely. The tea room is really quaint.
