This place is warm, cozy and humble. It's really decent wholesome food at great prices and the staff are so friendly. Great variety of drinks. The pizza and soup was a particular highlight. They also have two screens playing sport if you want to watch the game. I can't recommend this place enough and I'm thankful to have read great... More

We went into the Thirsty Weta for dinner. The food was good and so was the service. I think the food was overpriced for pub grub but kids loved it!

We have visited this place a couple of years ago and we simply loved this cafe. They had good meals, super friendly and fast staff and a kids colouring package to keep the little ones busy. This time it wasn't anything like that. We visited on a Saturday for a late lunch. The first thing we noticed was the flies... More

I went in for a simple american drip coffee to go and got a friendly lesson on NZ coffee. I ended up getting a Long Black, like an Americano, but in reverse.... VERY DELICIOUS!!! The bar tender was super friendly and made me feel like we were old friends. He also gave me a list of nearby FREE attractions that... More

A comfortable place for drinks and dinner. We had a choice of inside seating or enjoying the nice weather in their outdoor ding area. There weren't many restaurant options on Monday evening in Otorohanga, so we are glad the Thirst Weta turned-out to be good for both menu options and prices. I enjoyed the nicely seasoned beef satay and noodle... More

Chose this place from the reviews. Went for early dinner as the locals were finishing work and dropping by for a beer, very social. More cafe by appearance than pub, and very rugby themed decor. Service was good but food was ordinary. Good place for a conversation or a quick bite.

Two evenings experience leads me to an enthusiastic recommendation: get there before the locals crowd in. Pork done better than the beef, varied menu w lots of choices and lots of beers.

Had lunch here with 2 grandchildren and they said their pizza and fries were good. Kids meal also came with a choice of drink. We opted for toasted sandwiches and they came with a good serve of fries. Staff very attentive and happy.

We called in after looking up trip advisor reviews, the only issue was someone had said there were no mussels available, unfortunately this was the case for us as well but in saying that, we had nachos and the Guinness pie, both meals had great flavour and there was plenty to eat, staff was good, although I think the boss... Too many people, over 75 minutes wait for very average cold food. Service average because they were super busy.
