It was my first visit last weekend which I had been very excited about and I was not disappointed.Ive not stopped talking about it since Saturday. The food was on point and the wine list was fab! I am so looking forward to my next visit!

We were planning a walk out in the South Downs and wanted to start with a good meal so, after searching the Internet, plumped for the Duke of Cumberland Arms. It was an inspired choice. The pub is a 500-year old, typical rural pub (open fire, bare wooden tables and benches, beamed ceiling etc.). A very welcoming place with lots... More

You'd have to be looking for this pub, because you'd never find it otherwise...! Engaging surroundings with a nice old fashioned feel to the bar. A table for two near a crackling fire was just the job after being out on a frosty January day. The wine list is very good as is the food. decent portions as well. The... More

We had lunch here on a Saturday with friends here. It is advisable to book as this is a popular place. We all ha fishcakes as a starter and followed this with a seafood risotto, lamb shank, scallops and pulled pork. All were excellent. For dessert we had ice cream, treacle tart and seasonal crumble, again all were excellent. There... More

I brought a French friend who is an absolute foodie here for lunch. I was nervous. The setting is fantastic for a tourist - old, characterful pub in the middle of the English countryside. Being French, he was delighted by the outside smoking room heated with its own fireplace. By the time we sat down he had taken enough photos... More

I have eaten at the Duke of Cumberland many times and the food is always delicious with great service. Myself and a group of friends decided to attend their NYE party which offered a 7 course taster menu. They were some of the most incredible dishes I have ever seen and tasted; it was clear how much passion and thought... More

I live a mile and a half away and decided to walk to the Duke of Cumberland with my partner for a quiet drink early on Saturday evening. The bar service I received was abrupt, rude and eventually, insulting. We drank up and left. I'll never return.

Fantastic lunch in the cosy little bar. The haddock and chips were superb. Staff were friendly and welcoming. We were there early and had booked a table. It soon got full and people who hadn't booked were unable to get a table. It was our first time here; would definately return.
