Mimosa Lodge offers dinner to their overnight guests, but also takes in guests from outside, You are welcome from 7pm, when Bernie -your host- pours you a drink. Dinner service starts at 7.30pm and there is a set 4 course menu. Of course you can mention dietary wishes. Where ours was difficult (no olive oil), the kitchen was able to... More

This is a busy lodge in the heart of Montagu well supported by smallish tour groups from Europe. It is ideal for 1 or 2 nights. Dinner is additional to the cost (R420 without drinks or R600 with drinks) of bed and breakfast. The chef / owner a renowned award winning chef. We never had the 5 course meal preferring... More

As we were staying here for two nights, we decided to eat here as well, and I am glad we did. The evening starts at 7pm with everyone meeting up in the garden for drinks, with the muscadet complimentary! A nice idea, but it doesn't really get strangers talking to you, they simply sit down and wait to be called... More

Excellent Kitchen. Fine dining at its best in Montagu. The Lodge has nicely decorated spacious rooms. We have stayed in different category rooms over the years. We like the Garden Rooms and the Orchard Suite which has its very own plunge pool. The Staff are attentive, friendly and knowledgeable. Mimosa Lodge is a must whenever in Montagu

We just had an overnight stop here but it was pleasant enough. Good breakfast and lovely garden. The wifi wasn't working on our side of the hotel but that's no biggie and the AC unit was not working too well either. Good value.

Dinner was preceeded by drinks in the garden, very nice Mimosa has a fixed menu of 4 courses and aims but doesn't quite reach "Fine Dining" yet The Vichyssoise & Gruyere mousse starter was excellent as was the Poached Egg on Truffle Pea Puree but the Beef Sirloin and Duchesse potatoes, (Duchesse Potatoes!) was well beef and two veg however... The Mimosa Lodge was recommended to me by a good friend who had stayed there a year ago. He told me it was worth going out of my way to stay a night there. He was right. Housed in buildings built in the 1850s in the pretty Western Cape town of Montagu it is comfortably but quaintly decorated. The art... More

Lovely location with pleasant and extensive gardens. Friendly and helpful staff and historic charm. Unfortunately let down by poor standards of hygiene which was evident throughout the buildings. Carpets and floors in bedroom were dirty and upholstery stained and shabby. Breakfast did not match the 4 star award The Lodge has apparently received. Buffet breakfast adequate with a cooked option... More

Delightful staff but disorganised. There were three of us, myself and a couple. Dinner first night very tasty. Second night we dined out because although fancy menu there were a number of items none of us wished to eat and there's no choice. The first morning my hot breakfast did not materialise at the table at all, and no one... More
