5 mins walk fro Park Royal. Typically furnished Chinese restaurant, quiet night only one other table. The street is quite deserted, no tourists due COVID-19. Pretty good claypot tofu, Sambal belacan kangkung a favourite, Nam Yee fried chicken deboned was great, as is the salted...egg squid, though the sweet sour fish could be fresher. Friendly service, even the auntie to check if we want more rice. Reasonable price RM162.More

Nice staff that are helpful. Good food and cheap. Not the best food ever but nothing wrong with it. Worth a visit.

We always eat at the Guan Guan when in Batu Ferringhi as the local food is very good an very reasonable. We visited twice during our recent trip and can recommend the Satay, Spring Rolls and Beef in Plum Sauce in particular. The service can...be abut chaotic - eg on one occasion we had finished before one of the dishes arrived - but at the Guan Guan this adds to the charm of Penang diningMore

Have been coming here every Chinese New Year with my clan ever since i was 12 years old. 25 years later and it's still our family favourite!Don't let it's humble exterior fool you. This place has HEART (and of course, great food cooked with love).

We found this little family run restaurant while walking from our accommodation at the Park Royal (only a few hundred meters) the owners were so friendly and that made us go in. The food was spectacular! Highly recommend the spring rolls and chicken curry!!! We...loved it so much we ended up back there three days in a row. The owners found out it was my birthday and even suprised me with a cake! Don’t walk past go in and enjoy the food it is an absolute must.More

We went to this place one evening while we stayed at Park Royal Resort at Batu Ferringhi, which was about 200 metres away. It was just two store away from the expensive award winning Ferringhi Garden Restaurant. We wanted a simple dinner as we had...a late lunch that day. This place is good for simple meals and it did not disappoint for the money we paid for in local terms. We had four dishes, Claypot Tofu, Marmite Chicken, fried spicy Kang Kong and Beef Rendang and some fruit juices and it cost us around MYR110. Decent cooking except for the beef rendang where the gravy wasn't thick enough and cut of the beef was too thin unlike the Indonesian or Malay version of the dish. Service wise, we couldn't complain as there were not that many guests that night as it was raining that night. Only three tables occupied. Food came on good local time and the family that runs it are friendly as they try to strike a conversation with you whenever possible. Would recommend to someone looking for a simple local Chinese and Peranakan food with a low to mid budget value meal with a simple setting.More

Batu Ferringhi is a quiet place during the day. Since this is where the resorts are in Penang, people usually step out for sightseeing in the mornings or enjoy the quite at the resorts, hence there aren't too many places that are open add day...long. Guan Guan is one of the options that are open all throughout the day. It's a home-run place where an old aunty greets you with a warm smile right at the entrance, which makes the very welcoming. She would also make recommendations if you ask for it. The food is freshly prepared by her daughter and is pretty decent. We had some spring rolls, laksa, and grilled fish. But frankly, if I had more choice, I would have gone elsewhere.More

This was the first restaurant we went to in Batu Ferringhi and basically Penang so my family and I didn't have much expectations about the food quality or hospitality etc. but this cafe helped us set a high standard for the next few days. All...the family members were friendly and quickly got us settled. On top of that, they conversed in fluent cantonese us (which was a treat). They gave us tips on what to do in the following days and even casually talked about hk's situation, Housing prices in Penang and more. The food was also quite memorable. Service was slow but honestly didn't bother me (seems like the entire island is this slow). Spring Rolls, Satay Chicken and Beef (No pork) and Chow kwai dew were all great and well cooked. The Chow Kwai Dew is normally spicy so a tip is to ask for less spice. Overall a great cafe/restaurant thats really near the beach! Must try if headed to Batu Ferringhi!More
