Nice staff, pleasant enough, if basic, place, fair prices. But the sweet and sour chicken sauce was uninspiring and the fried chicken in the dish should have been crisper. My Singapore Meehoon tastes more like pad Thai than traditional Singapore meehoon. The stir-fried mixed vegetables...was mostly cabbage and had unadvertised, and unwanted, pork. I will say the cam Hong eggplant was good, if slightly odd – kind of like spicy eggplant friesMore

We asked our Grab driver, hotel staff, and the foot massage guy, and all of them mentioned this restaurant to us. It's a 5 minute walk from the Golden Sands hotel, just by the roadside, but it's clean. The crowd was also a good barometer...for the food - it was full by 7pm. We tried the belachan fried chicken - not spicy, but very tasty. Their tofu dishes (recommended by the staff) was extremely good - we had the claypot tofu in particular. All in all, a great find.More

Took a drive to Batu Feringgi tourist belt looking for cheap Dvds at the Night Market and decided to dine here. Golden River is located at the road where Petronas is and is about 500 metres down just before the housing estate. It is easy...to miss because their sign is not very obvious but look for an open air simple eatery with no frills on the left side of the road. Yes, it is a very popular dining spot with the local tourists and resident expats. How could it not be? The food is tasty and the beer is cheap. It is definitely a locals' favorite too because there is no visit where you don't bump into someone you know. The highly recommended dishes are the kam heong brinjal, sweet and sour pork, steam fish and lemon grass chicken. But really, you can get pretty much anything there. I have tried almost everything on their menu and have not had a bad dish. Everything I have had there are worth getting again.More

This restaurant is located off the main road & not very noticeable. But was told about it by a staff in hotel. The fish was excellent. Prawns while fresh, were a little small. The pork with salted fish, supposed to be their signature disg, was...only average. Service is ok. Price was cheap esp by Australian standard.More

This is a good find if you are in Batu Ferringhi. As with many of the good places to eat do not let the first impressions put you off. It is not fine dining here, but it does give westerners the choice of both chopsticks...and forks - which is rarely the case. The food is very good, tasty and good value, and it is interesting to see it being prepared. We will be back.More

This restaurant is located in the street that runs off the main drag in Batu Ferringhi in front of. The Golden Sands Hotel and is about 200metres up the road.. nothing to look at from the outside. But the food is very good... you can...get small medium or large dishes ... wife and I had small and found enough to fill ya tummy.. all food is cooked in an open kitchen where you can see everything being done... as I mentioned .. the place is nothing to look at but the food excellent and not expensive ... well worth the visit.More

The open style kitchen with the chefs and helpers busy doing their preparation and cooking is quite fascinating, especially if one is a foreigner. Service is fast , food is reasonably good and is among the best one can get in Batu Ferringhi for its...prices. The belachan chicken and steam fish will not disappoint anyone!More

Recommend to us by Ron at Sparks Laundry opposite Golden Sands, this was a great restaurant at reasonable prices. They also are one of the few places that serve pork. Would definitely recommend and go back.

My wife, I and two friends have just returned from nearly three weeks in Batu Feringhi and once again the nightly dining out was the standout of our trip. The Golden River, again served up fantastic meals, with their mouthwatering sweet and sour pork being...our favorite. As for the Longbeach, you cannot go pass this foodcourt for its choice of dishes, malaysian, indian, chinese being the mainstays. While our friends regularly tucked into the Indian dishes, my wife had chinese, BBQ chicken wings and the occassional blueberry pancake. I alternated between my favorite Char kway teow, the freshest vegetarian springs rolls and the chicken or beef satays, with the best peanut sauce. The drink ladies regularly checked to ensure we never went dry. On average our meals cost as little as MR 3(A$1) to MR15(A$5). We all decided we would give both a five star rating.More

Fabulous street food, service and value. Limited drinks available but that's understandable and certainly didn't detract from our meal.
