Located away from the main drag through BF it’s a short walk from the big hotels. This open air restaurant with it’s tin roof does get stinking hot during the day even with all the fans. I would suggest visiting at night if you find...the heat challenging. This is a no frills restaurant with prices to match. There are three serving sizes you can choose from. Small was plenty for one person. Let them know you are vegetarian and they will modify meals. Meals are very tasty and fresh, great fried rice and cold beer. Couldn’t taste any MSG. Service is efficient and friendlyMore

This place is totally worth it. A must if you are in Batu Ferringhi, Penang. The staff are great at letting you know what is mild, medium or hot! Lots of vegetarian options.

I went there with my family just once before. The food there is okay. Some was quite good but it wouldn't be a restaurant I would recommend to someone at first thought tho. The price is expensive.

First visit for a while, return delayed by Covid. This is a very efficient Chinese restaurant with a good selection on the menu. Certainly at the "cheap eats" end of things but quick and wholesome. The waiter was very helpful.

We visited on the recommendation of locals and taking account of trip advisor reviews as the only restaurant to go for decent Chinese food! It’s not a restaurant as such, it’s on the road but there are tables under shelter. All of the furniture is...Mis-matched, tables are actually old wooden doors etc…. It’s quirky! The kitchen is open and so you can watch the food being cooked. We are a family of 4. Two adults; Two kids aged 7 & 8 years. The menu is massive for such a small operation. A main dish and rice is $7.50 ringgits (which is under £2). Soft drinks are all under £1 and a large Tiger Beer was £2! The food came in decent portions. However; it really wasn’t anything to shout about at all. It was average food at best. We had S&S Pork, S&S Chicken, Black Pepper Prawns, BBQ Spare Ribs and Fried Rice. The spare ribs were NOT spare ribs, they were strips of thin cut pork. The Fried rice was overpowered with Garlic and nothing else, it was also super soft and mushy. The S&S was very tasty, but the peppers and celery were like mush, no texture, no crunch etc.. The Black Pepper Prawns were very small and they were crunchy as though they’d been dipped in Demerara sugar. It was an interesting dish. The total bill was around £12 ($70 Ringgits) so I am not complaining at all; because for the amount of food served, it was very good. But I would have paid ten times that for quality over quantity… even on the roadside!!!! Saying that, it was very busy…… packed full from the moment to arrived to the moment we left so they’re definitely doing something right here!!More

This is our go to Restaurant for great Local Chinese food! Delicious and well priced and you always leave feeling satisfied. Their Spare Ribs in BBQ sauce is a real winner as are the Fried Belachan Chicken Wings. They do the best egg with Bitter...gourd in Penang making it always cooked medium and runny…. The list goes on with delicious dishes…..Yum! In fact all their dishes are very tasty so its worth a visit and order through the menu as each dish we have tried are simply outstanding. This is a casual restaurant where shorts and slippers are the norm, but the food is Excellent and worth a try with Family and friends.More

Went here a few years ago after reading good reviews. Wasn't disappointed then, and again a few days ago..wasn't disappointed. Food is still good. Especially the fried kam heong eggplant. Nothing like it anywhere. Note of advice, go for early dinner as the place can...packed and have to wait for your order as they also cater for takeaways and deliveries. Highly reco!More

Nice staff, pleasant enough, if basic, place, fair prices. But the sweet and sour chicken sauce was uninspiring and the fried chicken in the dish should have been crisper. My Singapore Meehoon tastes more like pad Thai than traditional Singapore meehoon. The stir-fried mixed vegetables...was mostly cabbage and had unadvertised, and unwanted, pork. I will say the cam Hong eggplant was good, if slightly odd – kind of like spicy eggplant friesMore

We asked our Grab driver, hotel staff, and the foot massage guy, and all of them mentioned this restaurant to us. It's a 5 minute walk from the Golden Sands hotel, just by the roadside, but it's clean. The crowd was also a good barometer...for the food - it was full by 7pm. We tried the belachan fried chicken - not spicy, but very tasty. Their tofu dishes (recommended by the staff) was extremely good - we had the claypot tofu in particular. All in all, a great find.More

Took a drive to Batu Feringgi tourist belt looking for cheap Dvds at the Night Market and decided to dine here. Golden River is located at the road where Petronas is and is about 500 metres down just before the housing estate. It is easy...to miss because their sign is not very obvious but look for an open air simple eatery with no frills on the left side of the road. Yes, it is a very popular dining spot with the local tourists and resident expats. How could it not be? The food is tasty and the beer is cheap. It is definitely a locals' favorite too because there is no visit where you don't bump into someone you know. The highly recommended dishes are the kam heong brinjal, sweet and sour pork, steam fish and lemon grass chicken. But really, you can get pretty much anything there. I have tried almost everything on their menu and have not had a bad dish. Everything I have had there are worth getting again.More
