On our third time of trying my wife and I managed to book a table the other times the restaurant was fully booked. The food is amazing and the staff are very friendly and helpful, the menu is mainly duck based, my wife ask for an alternative as she doesn't like duck and was given chicken which was very nice... Much has been said about the wonders of French cooking but after 7 days in Paris and then Bordeaux, I was underwhelmed. It was until I arrived at Tremolat that things started to improve. First at the Bistro and then, based on hosts recommendation in Lalinde, my wife and I visited this remote little location in the forest. Easy to... More

The trip to Les Truffieres, a small auberge located right in the heart of woodland high above the Cingle at Tremolat sets the scene but the warm welcome from jovial, bearded Yannick the chef proprietor gives reassurance that the journey was worth the effort! The small dining room with a huge fireplace is full of kitsch objects of global origin... More

After visiting numerous times last year we decided to go again this year. We did not regret the decision. Same formula but with a twist. We particularly loved the tomato, watermelon and strawberry salad.

Do not expect a menu to choose from, nor to be in and out within an hour or so, why would you want to leave anyway? The owner come chef come waiter chooses for you and cooks up a fine combination of coarses using fresh, seasonal and local produce. The food is well seasoned and cooked. All is combined with... This is an absolute cant miss experience while you are in the area. Yannick welcomes you into his homes and prepares a fantastic home cooked meal. You sit in the backyard surrounded by his farm and beautiful country setting. The food is prepared simply but there is nothing simple about the fantastic flavors and local ingredients that will have you... More

Who knows what we expected, but the review were good, and although it was a magical mystery tour, it was worth the wait-out host Yannick is outstanding. and if ( on the night we dined) it was a little ducky , but of course you can say. the food was imaginative and excellent the dining room new york meets Russia... We have eaten at Les Truffieres every year we visit The Dordogne. And EVERY year Yannick outdoes himself. Everything was cooked to perfection, and Yannick makes a vegetarian meal for me that is always delicious:-)! We look forward to next year but wish it was sooner.

My friends and I arrived at this beautiful rural French restaurant and were amazed by our meal and the location. We had a five course Sunday lunch, that was not only absolutely delicious; but beautifully presented. It was traditional French cooking at it's best. Beginning with an appertif when we entered, a wonderful visit with Yanick about his travels to... More

When eating at an Auberge, you are usually treated to some horrible confit de canard or fried chicken, chips and heated canned beans. Not here! This is another dimension in Auberge food! Run by a rather avuncular proprietor, you are started with an aperitif made with home made flavouring in wine. This is followed by a traditional "postage", in this... More
