Delicious food which was simple but full of flavour and perfectly cooked. Complimented by our perfect gin pairings and a wonderful atmosphere. Had a really personal feel and loved that the chefs came out of the kitchen to serve! Boutique experience will definitely come back...:)More

Good food, but poor service; waitresses would benefit from a customer service course, as they avoided us until it suited them and did not attempt to make conversation. I mentioned it was my husband’s birthday on booking, but no reference was made to it during...the evening. A good restaurant would give a gesture of a small dessert. Poor hygiene standards during COVID - bin overflowing in unisex toilet and the soap had run out. Also, a fork was taken from our table and given to another one! Unfortunately, we won’t be returning.More

Family trip early evening. Children made welcome but only children' options were burger or chicken nuggets which felt like a shame in a fish restaurant so they shared an adult main. Fish was all cooked very well but everything was cooked in / served with...loads of butter, even the already very creamy risotto. It was all just a bit much!More

Dover soul. Great little restaurant right opposite The Albion with well spaced tables. We were greeted by one of the two waiting staff and could see into the kitchen. The chef owners obviously love cooking, food and fish. We had their taramasalata to start with...sourdough. Both were sublime and obviously made with whole smoked roe - nothing like the supermarket version and a must try if they have it when you go. We both had Dovers fried in butter as our mains. Simon? The chef playfully held them up for us to admire when they’d been floured - they were of a good size. A few minutes later they landed and were spot on with creamy mash and garlic haricot vert - music to my ears when another diner complained their portion was too big. Other dishes looked excellent as plates of various fishes with crisped skin wafted past us. A great fish restaurant, I wish there was something like it in Crouch End (yes I know we have establishments that specialise in fish but prefer DIY from Purkis) however S&M are in another league.More

The food was excellent, with the restaurant having a true family run restaurant atmosphere cumulating in a brilliant night. Would definitely recommend to others!

We were very excited about eating here, given the great reviews. The food was very good, but unfortunately the service was pretty poor and we left feeling unwelcome and a bit confused. We were a party of five, on a night when they weren't jam-packed,...but we were sat waiting on service for a long time. No-one asked whether the food was ok, or whether we wanted more drinks or desserts. The baffling bit is - when the waitress halfheartedly cleared the table, leaving a pile of dirty cutlery on my son's place setting, I politely asked the man I think is the manager if he'd mind clearing it away before the dessert came. He picked up one dirty fork out of the pile, stared at it and took it to the kitchen leaving the remainder, which was never cleared. I'm baffled as to the point of this and it just left a sour taste in my mouth on what should have been a lovely evening. Not worth the effort.More

We had a delicious dinner! Honest, down to earth great cooking! Lovely service! Would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for fresh fish and seafood cooked with the care it deserves!
