Carne (beef) empanada was muy bien, all of our empanadas were good, but wish I'd have bought more carne. The flavor was so good. I wish they had a fan and served beer, but this place was on point. Food and service were excellent!

During a 3 night stay in Uvita we ate here twice, the first night we tried the Empanadas and they were delicious. On out second visit we tried the pizza and was just as delicious. The pizza is large so we did a half and...half. Everyone is really friendly. There is limited spaces to sit down and is popular. I think they also do take away.More

Argentinas food. Veryyyy tasty with fresh products. I suggest the empeñadas for entry. The pizza is big so you can share it for two. Homemade. Super friendly staff. Place is small and cute.

Very cute atmosphere, and nicely landscaped. This little hole in the wall in a cool surfer town was just what we were looking for. GREAT EMPANADAS! The Cebolla y Queso was incredible! I had the chicken sandwich which was so flavorful! The seasoning was delicious!...We will be back to see Jose! He was the perfect host for a tasty dinner! Tell him Mike and Allen said hello! Loved, LOVED this little restaurant! Great ambiance, AMAZING food! Loved the empanadas!! Went for dinner then back again the next day for lunch. Don't miss this place!

Great experience! Had a really cosy and tastefull lunch. They have excelent empanadas, sandwiches, pizza, ... Very quite neighbourhood in full nature. The guy was really really friendly.

So happy to have found this little gem, just a block away from our airbnb. We had to go back again, it was so good! We tried chicken, beef, caprese, onion & cheese and they were all delicious! Hope to return to Uvita and specifically...to el hornito soon.More

We searched out this tiny eatery on our first trip to Ballena National Park but it was closed. We had better luck tonight. We tried an assortment of empanadas, all with flaky crust and delicious fillings. 7 empanadas augmented with a salad made at home...made three adults very happy. We also cast covetous glances at a wood-fired pizza being enjoyed on site. We will try that next time.... and there will be a next time. The most important thing to know is that El Hornito is cash only. But the prices are more than fair. (7 empanadas for 8400 colones; can't beat that!)More

Great little place to stop for lunch right near the beach. We tried the beef and cheese & basil empenadas and they were amazing. Definately hand made and loaded with filling. We also tried the breaded chicken sandwich which was great. Top quality ingredients for...sure!More

Cute little place with great food. Nice patio with a good atmosphere. The pizza and the empanadas were fantastic. Love the veggie and pollo the best.

Really enjoyed the empanadas and pizza here. We would definitely go back! Both are baked in a wood oven and are very good and flavourful!
