Fabulous restaurant tucked away in Polignano a Mare a small town not far from Monopoli where we stayed overnight. It's in a cave but to get to the restaurant one has to go through the narrow streets of the town and there's not many signs to find it. We did ask locals for help. It's paid meter parking outside in... More

Very very tasty food. Dont know how they made it, but it is the best so far I have eaten. Because it is last August, more than half a year passed, but I can be sure, the only restaurant that impressed me more than Chinese food, is this one, and it left me the good impressure that Pugliese in Italy... Imagine yourself inside a carved out limestone restaurant with the Adriatic Sea tide hitting the rocks below. It's a fantasy restaurant with delicious food and the most accommodating, helpful and wonderful staff. I feel like a very lucky person to have experienced this unique gem. The hotel was booked, so I wasn't able to stay there, but, even though it... More

We booked this restaurant nine months in advance. Set in a cave watching the sunset of the ocean, what more could you want. We were sat two tables back from the ocean and next to the waiters serving trolley. Very unset I asked to move and the waiter was very rude. I spoke to another person in the restaurant that... More

I have visited Italy several times and eaten in countless ristorantes, osterias, tavernas and trattorias. The Grotta Palazzese wins the price for the worst food I have ever had in Italy. The food was tasteless and poorly prepared. We had fish that was fried to death, greasy flavorless pasta, and vegetables that were delivered only after we reminded our waiter... More

This restaurant is very overrated. Only tourists eat here. Locals won't. The menu would be much better if they served local farm to table food. View is magnificent but better just to have a drink, skip the food!

As we were already in ltaly, l thought l might surprise my husband with dinner and an overnight stay here to celebrate his birthday. The family joined us for what was to be an unforgettable evening. The food was good, not the best, but the night was a night to remember. The staff were attentive and friendly and best of... More

Please don't allow the title to sway you; keep your expectations real. Bottom line: if you want to make an impression and get hubby points for taking your wife out on a romantic dinner date, this is the place; it is loaded with ambiance! However, I am unsure if the food equals the ambiance. Would it be better to eat... More

My husband and I had an extraordinary lunch at this restaurant during our visit to the Polignano a Mare. You can describe the atmosphere in one word - Unique. The service was on a high level as one would expect from such place (consider service charge Eur 10 per cover) but still a room for improvement. Food is average. The... More

I had this place on my bucket list of places to see when in Italy. It was amazing to be there and experience being in a seaside grotto. We were seated towards the back near an open cave pool where you can see the water coming in and out. Birds flew in over our heads whilst we ate. The service... More
