Called here on spec, we were quite late but they accommodated us for lunch, staff were friendly & helpful. The crab claws were yummy 😋 the curry was slightly lacking in chicken content, but after this was pointed out more chicken was brought out with the offer of a free dessert, a nice surprise, the curry was very tasty too.... Called in after being recommend by a local lad we met on the train. The place was empty when we got there which is usually a concern but how wrong could we be. Nice decor, comfortable seating and the food was delicious and fresh. I had the languistines with garlic butter and my wife had the haddock. We didn't have... More

We went here for beers and food on a highlands trip. I chose it based on Trip Advisor and a local recommendation. We had a few beers in the bar with the locals and the owners Great Dane ... the bar is really relaxing with good beers. The food was excellent and highly recommended. We had Chowder, squid, lemon sole,... More

Our family enjoyed a lovely meal here. It was early evening so we had the place to ourselves for most of it. We had the mussels, monkfish scampi and the kids had homemade pizzas which were also excellent.

The nachos very excellent. The rest of the food was quite good. However, the service was less than average, possibly due to the very young waitresses. Although the boy there, who appeared to be managing that day, was trying his best. The bill was incorrect, but swiftly adjusted by the manager.

We popped in for an evening meal whilst staying overnight in Mallaig, and the food was very good. We both had the steak and ale pie, really tender steak and light pastry, fantastic. A pint of Skye ale went down well also. We were in the restaurant section, rather than the pub section, and the music was a strange mixture,... More

I was staying overnight in Mallaig and was recommended the restaurant at the Steam Inn, I was not disappointed. The baked Cod was very good and the plate piping hot, just at it should be, too many places dish up on cold plates these days. The Cranachan for dessert was especially good, so all in all a nice place to... More

We had a fantastic meal here, not being fans of seafood we thought our choices in Mallaig would be limited but not here. The curry of the day was butter chicken and it was delicious, better to come was the Orkney fudge cheesecake, all in all a great experience.

We were able to get a table despite not booking - no mean feat as even in late March the place was clearly the most popular in town. The menu is extensive and varied catering for all tastes. After a day of cycling and travelling I was very hungry so went for the meatballs and spaghetti on the specials board.... More
