Now I know how the fish feel! My wife and I saw what we wanted on the board and sat down. Immediately bread and tapas were set down without asking. We asked for water - we were given the biggest bottle automatically while the waiter then talked us out of what we asked for and into more expensive dishes. While... More

We have had lunch here three times since November and have never been disappointed. This definitely not fine dining, it is an unpretentious, outdoor taberna serving predominantly fresh fish and shellfish. Yes, when busy, the service can be a bit erratic, but the quality of the food in terms of freshness and flavour compensate in my opinion. Covers of bread,... More

As you would expect, a restaurant beside the moored fishing boats, lovely fresh fish. Tried scabbard - and for €9 had good meal with potatoes and tomato salad. Previously had fish soup - delicious too, €2.50 and partner had vegetables soup €1, very good value, and tasty

Nice lunch in early January, in a beautiful day which seemed coming from a warm spring (sunny, 20° C). The starter was an excellent fish soup, with a strong tomato flavour and many chunks of fish meat (no bones!). The main dish was a generous dose of "clams with pork meat", very tasty with fresh clams, a traditional dish in... More

A real pity.We used to visit when this was a humble fish restaurant. However, due to the location, a colouful redesign and frequent live music, the place has now become an uncaring tourist trap.Service is thoughtless, without charm (except when they usher you in) and disorganised.Avoid.There are far more deserving places in Alvor.

The sort of place locals eat, it seems to have reopened recently; I asked the owner if I could buy on of their lovely branded serving dishes; "Sorry, we only have three of them. More coming next week. I'll give you one next time you're in Alvaro." 😆 I had salted/grilled Mackerel, which was lovely, and house white wine which... More

We stopped for lunch in Ze Morgadinho and we were not disappointed. The sardines that I ordered were cooked fresh and the couvert was ample and very cheap. We were entertained by an accordion player and the chef who enthusiastically played the traingle.

This restaurant was busy on dull Monday lunchtime so we decided to try it... the staff were pretty disorganised if friendly... We ordered without problem and were happy to wait for my fish to cook over charcoal. It was tasty and well cooked but the tomato salad was watery and the potatoes fairly dull. My husband enjoyed his ribs. No... More

We had a very nice lunchtime meal here. The place is very busy but that seems to help the atmosphere. The staff were attentive without being too "in your face" and the waiter was really helpful when I was trying to decide what fish to have for my lunch. Prices were very reasonable and from where we sat we could smell... More

Followed the sign outside which offered 4 option, e.g. salmon @ £8.00 and chicken @ £7.50. Somehow these did not seem to be available. When we asked for the plato do dia (dish of the day), the only 4 options were arroz (rice) with some form of shellfish.Unfortunately, I am allergic to shellfish, so we were offered fish instead. Chose... More
