I'm not a gourmand by any stretch of the imagination and I'm often disappointed by restaurants that people describe as a once in a lifetime experience. But Don Alfonso is a culinary gem! We all had the traditional tasting menu and everything was delicious. Beautifully presented and so good it stopped all conversation beyond oohs and aahs! The service was... More

We were staying in Positano, and decided to spend the €100 taxi fare to visit this restaurant. The dining room is relatively chintzy, and the other diners seemed very stuffy and one in particular took it upon herself to loudly comment to her husband that she thought we were too young to be able to afford such a restaurant. The... More

We visited this restaurant at Easter this year. We opted for the tasting menu which was delicious, perfectly executed which demonstrated lightness of touch with food packed full of wonderful flavours. The service was excellent and the sommelier was very knowledgable and happy to recommend wines, a red from Puglia for example was outstanding. We met Alfonso himself and even... More

I took my wife to Don Alfonso to celebrate a special birthday, and it really was an exceptional experience. I was slightly hesitant about opting for the taster menu, as I've sometimes been disappointed by these in fine dining restaurants. However, this did not disappoint, a wonderful menu perfectly executed. The staff were extremely attentive, and importantly helpful and approachable.... More

Loved it. Fantastic family restaurant. The owners are very attentive and you should expect to be greeted by a member of the family. The food is the best in Southern Italy. Their wine cellar has been in operation since the Etruscan period and much of their food is produced on their family farm near Capri. Amazing experience - well worth... More

A very chic restaurant with a lively ambiance. The food was beautifully prepared, delicious and creative. The owners were present and welcomed each guest personally. Livia welcomed us and spent a lot of time explaining the menu and suggesting dishes we would enjoy (we had our two children with us). They were very generous and attentive, and at the end... More

It was wonderful from start to finish. Warm welcome, excellent service, charming sommelier, very accommodating with my dietary requirements, and every course was perfection on a plate. The dining room decor is quirky (pinks, lilacs and white) but it works. The big mirrors and great lighting makes it all come together. And the kitchen is beautiful - fully tiled and... More

I ordered tasting course of 170 Euro per person with my wife and that was actually perfect!. I loved the duck as second plate, not for main course the best, and the taste and outlooking of lemon tasted dessert was also nice. After the dinner, the restaurant took us the tour of wine cellar and impressed with the number of... More

First I have to mention that we eat out a lot and often in Michelin restaurants all over Europe and abroad. I compare Don Alfonso with these style of restaurants. Very modern (pink style) dining room, service is good but not as perfect as we are used to in a two star. We chose two different menu's, the traditional menu... More

I had to laugh when reading some of the less enthusiastic reviews. Of course if what you're looking for is a large amount of food for a small price (what is called "good value" is some parts of the world), Don Alfonso is not the place wou're looking for, just go to a pizzeria. More seriously, Don Alfonso largely lives... More
