Set in a very strangely empty part of the city, Amaranta threads a fine line between accessibility and fine dining. It is carefully decorated without being pretentious; the work in the kitchen can be seen by the customer without making the (small) place noisy; the menu is neither extensive nor limiting; dishes are obviously meant to be innovative without going... Chef and cuisine are comparable with some restaurants in Mexico City. However the food is gourment only. If you really want to taste mexican food this is not the place. Another restaurants, less expensive, will provide a real experience of traditional mexican food. However if you are planning for a business dinner or lunch this is a good place.

It is a MAGNIFICENT restaurant in a city that lacks high en restaurants. It is ranked as one of the 50 best restaurants in Latin America. México having over 10 in the top 100 of the worlds best, says a lot about this hidden jewel. For starters I'm a foodie that has eaten at the best restaurants each city I... More

To visit this place in Toluca is a must. 35 minutes from Santa Fe, in Mexico City. The chef is one of the best in America, and I must say that is the best in Mexico. The restaurant uses local ingredients, and the conception of the desserts is awsome. My only complain is that the breakfast has not the same... More

A highly rewarding culinary experience in a very nice place in a beautiful and quiet neighbourhood in Toluca. Well presented dishes, and a great collections of rara tequilas and mescals. Not to be missed if in Toluca, but need to book well in advance. They cultivate their own herbs and spices on the roof of the restaurant.

Went to Toluca to meet some customers, for a lunch meeting. And I have to confess that this was the best part of the whole trip. I really thought that it would be, like, 'yet-another-lunch-speak-bye' 1h30 meeting, but not this one. Amaranta caused me a good impression upon arrival. I needed to use the restroom and it was just perfectly... More

We recently ate breakfast here and enjoyed the attentive service, the smart looking dining room, and the delicious food. The juices were wonderful and included free refills. The bill for 2 came to about 500 pesos.

This family owned and operated restaurant does deserve to be in the top restaurants from Latin America. The awarded Chef, Pablo Salas, has specialized in typical Mexican State cuisine and has given his personal touch to his dishes. Everything is as we Mexican say "para chuparse los dedos" and come back on any possible occasion. You got me. Congratulations Chef... More
