Incredible food. Incredible atmosphere. Perfect for an intimate dinner but also larger groups. We shared multiple raw and cooked fish starters and mains across pasta and fish and it was all delicious.

Good food Quiete and can also be romantic ;) Good selection of fish Wine by the glass could be better Price is fair with quality 1 starter 1 primo and 1 secondo 1 dessert and coffee everything to share for 2 pp was 60euro total...Staff very polite and available for every requestMore
We had dinner with friends here. Seven of us in total and we would have called it a datly after the antipasti. We also had some great risotto and a good local wine to go with it. Definitely recommended!
We visited Da Umberto several times. Each time we got as starter many different fish or seafood creations. And each visit it was a different. All of it was fantastic. After all these small brilliant dishes, we took a pasta(with fish, fish eggs, sea urchin,......) or a whole fish with a crust of salt. Sparkling wine for the beginning and the suitable wine recommendation was all in all a perfect meal. Food and service was as it should be. We left the restaurant always very happy.More
Had a couple of dinners here and was pleased. Highlights were -choice of fresh fish (ask from their trolley) -fizz by the glass which was generous and tasty (as was their red) -courgette starter with potato and cheese They also have high chair for babies...Service was quick and polite during a quiet September period. Would recommend if in the neighbourhoodMore
Looks good but then disappointing. Service poor with over 1 hour beforereceiving even drink, choice limited with nothing if you do not feel like havibg something with tomatoes, quite arrogant people too.
nothing bad to write about this place, in fact to the contrary, very nice environment, beautiful garden and great service.....but I found it a little too formal, a sought after place for the guests that want privacy and be treated like royalties.....not for myself I...am afraid. The food was ridiculously expensive but also very good. We skipped the primo piatto and went straight for secondo: my friends had the tagliata that was really good to their taste and I had a grilled squid stuffed with chicory which was very nice. All in all dont think I will go there again as is not my type of place not for the food, which was nice.More
Umberto himself greeted us warmly and showed us his whole ristorante. We laughed a lot with the friendly waiter. The meal was great and everyone of us was happy. Saturday and Sunday, the pizzeria opens and umberto presents up to 1m long pizzas!! After the...coffee, umberto told storys and explained us a lot about puglia, salento, italia and more:) In alta stagione prenotare!-reserve in summer!!More
Every year we go back to Otranto in August and, when dinner time comes, we go back to Umberto's restaurant. You can truly trust quality and taste of food, everything is fresh and deliciously cooked. Sometimes they will tell you that something on the menu...is not available, but that only means that they do not use frozen stuff and that you'll always have fresh fish. I love everything at Da Umberto, from appetizers to desserts. And the garden is lovely too. A must-go in Salento.More
We stumbled upon this restaurant by accident near crowded Otranto. Lots of locals dining in which is usually a good thing. Umberto himself checks on the tables himself (we could tell as there are pictures of him all over the place) if you're an Italian...guest/friend. As we were from abroad, we were waited on by the other staff... Nevertheless: we had a great meal - Umberto serves both fish and meat and both were fine - which took some time to prepare, which, again, is usually a good thing. We would've visited again as the food was excellent but it was quite a long drive from the hotel so we didn't. A great address in this forgotten corner of Italy.More
