Not being pork eaters it's really hard to find a good breko spot where you can walk out stuffed. You can here!! The breakfast is a delicate blend of moist potato croquettes with a hint of tarragon, eggs your choice, slow cooked toms, mushrooms, beans, Meat sausages, toast etc etc. The staff are really hip and friendly and the cakes... Been here a few times for brunch and it has always been very good. Great selection of locally sourced produce, also a good tea selection with nice fresh mint tea. I would recommend the vege breakfast!

Went here for a birthday tea and although we arrived at 3:30 and they were shutting at 4:00 the staff were lovely and welcoming and promised that we wouldn't be rushed out to at bang on four. We were able to stay and enjoy wonderful tea made with proper tea leaves in proper sized teapots. Chocolate brownies, scones, soup and... More

What a gem in the local area! This is a must visit for anyone in hove that fancies a decent bite or a big slice of cake. We always love the food here, it's delicious, fresh, and always hits the spot! Favourites are the halloumi wrap and salad with chips, it's a got an onion chutney that is delicious. If... More

Thanks for your lovely review. It's great to hear from happy customers. As we have been The Hidden Pantry for 18 months now I was wondering if any chance you could put this review on The Hidden Pantry Cafe trip advisor page otherwise it won't get seen. Appreciate you making the effort to write a review. More

I come to Ethel's (I know it's changed names!) at least once a week for a pot of tea and cake. Fabulous tea, pretty cups and saucers and homemade cakes. A really friendly, relaxed cafe.

Friendly staff and a lovely warm welcome. Hot and tasty food. Very cosy. Priced a little over the odds. they don't serve pork so expect beef sausages.

Firstly, please note Ethel's Kitchen is now THE HIDDEN PANTRY. Still the same enjoyable cakes, beverages, breakfasts & lunches. There is seating outside and in. Note the inside seating area is downstairs. The location of this café is in an excellent spot for shopping, nearby you have 2 of the major supermarkets, hairdressers, Oxfam books/clothes etc. They are open 7... More

A delightful establishment with friendly staff providing excellent service. The food looked scrumptious and did not disappoint; the only problem was making the right choices! Hubby was totally satisfied with his "proper" cuppa, a rare occasion indeed. The staff even told us the name of the local supplier and handed us some tea bags to take home to be getting... More

A world of buttery biscuits and bold dark brownies, Cream teas served in vintage china tea-sets and good food with no fuss.We want you to feel like you have popped into your grandma's house for Welsh Rarebit and a slice of raspberry and rosewater Victoria sponge to follow, served on vintage china with a silver cake fork. For lunch there is a large menu of freshly prepared dishes, which includes an all-day breakfast section, the Spinach potato Rosti is a favourite, topped with melted cheese and an organic poached egg, and the proper homemade chips are not to be missed. The organic cappuccinos are smooth and fairly-traded and there are freshly pressed juices and fruit smoothies to be savoured. The Rosebud tea is also one to try from the large selection of loose teas, which looks as pretty as it tastes. Our intention is for our cafe and our food to be comforting and nourishing, and have tried to create a little haven in hove where you can maybe forget about the outside world for a brief moment as you enjoy your organic latte listening to Billlie Holiday.
