Great service and a lovely meal, if you want a unique meal, this is the place to come. The duck main is exceptional and the seafood fish is packed with flavour. Nice quiet atmosphere. If you are into wild foods this is the place to come, very well presented. Left nice and full

We have dined at Soulsa restaurant on several occasions, both at the old and new premises. The service is always outstanding with the Chef often coming out of the kitchen to make sure his customers are happy, a lovely touch. The food is to die for, we have never had a bad or even a mediocre meal - always 5*!... More

We searched for a very special restaurant in Whakatane and found it. Soulsa is spacious and airy. We found the staff to be attentive but not obtrusive. The specialist items on the menu were explained in detail, drinks and extras arrived in good time as one would expect of a quality restaurant. All the food was well presented, the scallops... More

Went with a group of 15 people. Getting drinks and ordering our meal took an hour. Would be another hour and a half before the meal was served and finished. The food is excellent and the chief is very creative, just don't be in a hurry to eat if you go here.

Dessert nice. Main-beetroot Risotto tasteless. Nice atmosphere. slightly clumsy waitresses. Private function, plenty of room for all.

Have been to Soulsa before, but not in its 'new place' - great to have room to move about. Waitress was attentive and fun to have wait on us. 4 different meals were all beautifully presented - especially the beetroot dish. Love that the owner/chef comes out and talks to you and asks your opinion of the meal

Soulsa has always been known for a good atmosphere and now that it has moved premises the atmosphere is just as good if not better. Same great service and awesome meals at reasonable prices make this a good destination restaurant. Owner is very, very personable and really does value the clientelle, he makes a great effort to ensure your meal... More

A family dinner here when we were on summer holiday in Ohope. The food is generously portioned and is mostly well cooked and presented. The steak girl wanted chips instead of roast potatoes, not a problem, son had venison, my duck breast was alarmingly extremely rare though tasty. A little bit more creativity with the presention wouldn't go astray, not... More

Garmin said it was on The Strand, they have moved. Google said Boon St. It wasn't. It is on Richardson Street (Where Jayne's Wool and Fabric was if you are looking at Google Street View). Why this first - to make sure you can find an excellent restaurant. We had Ribs - massive portion and really tasty followed by the... More

Have to rate Soulsa tops in Whakatane. Consistently good food and really nice to see the menu changing reasonably regularly. It pays to book as they are well patronised, testimony to their popularity. Soulsa roast chook was delightful and the pork ribs entree was massive in flavour and portion! We all loved what we had.
