This was truly an exquisite dining experience from start to finish. My husband and I both ordered from the 3 course “menu gourmande” which I believe changes from time to time, but neither of us had anything that wasn’t fantastic. Each dish was presented so...artfully that I couldn’t help taking photos of everything! Our waiter was friendly and the environment was intimate and beautiful. We will absolutely be back next time we’re in the area. Reserve in advance!More

This was our third visit to this wonderful hotel/restaurant situated on the Dordogne river. Roque-Gageac is well-worth a visit and La Belle Etoile is a must. The rooms, especially those overlooking the river, are comfortable, the service very professional and friendly, but you’re really coming...for the food! Superb local produce, beautifully cooked and presented. The lamb is divine! You won’t be disappointed.More

Michelin rated restaurant and it shows. Food was fabulous. Service was very professional. Expect a 2 hour dining experience. So many courses I lost count.

A quiet beautiful setting on the first floor of the hotel. Opened Terrace…the service is superb. The egg dish as an entree was beyond delicious. Our main of duck was excellent and the strawberry desert was excellent. Another beautiful dining experience in the Perigord

I had a laugh when I read some poor reviews for this hotel and restaurant... My first recollection of spending time here probably dates back to the late 60s on hols with parents... I have to say I don't remember eating there at that time......Since the 70s,through the next 40 plus years, our far from regular visits here(sadly) have never failed to delight and so much has, of course, changed through the years but only for the better... The hotel rooms have been refurbished making any stopover a delight and the restaurant experience has become a must do event every year even if we only manage 1 visit during the season(We wish it could be more)...staff,ambiance,the food always excellent and who could find fault with the location!! To anyone finding reason to mark this place down, perhaps you should stick to restaurants better reflecting your obvious poor taste and judgement🤔More

We stay in the hotel here and take all our meals here. The food is excellent and creative. The owner and his son are the chefs. We ate here three times this trip. My favorite is the outdoor terrasse, but they have two different and...charming inside dining rooms. I can't wait to see what they have cooked up every time we come. The desserts are always a stand out, but this year they had an Amuse Bouche that was brilliant. It came looking like some kind of egg, which I don't care for. It turned out to be ham Panna Cotta with apricot gel. Looked just like an egg! So creative. Fresh local ingredients. This is NOT a touristy place, and I would not bring children here to ruin the experience for serious diners. Excellent, fun servers here!More

We ate here on 2 two occasions. Friendly informal service. We ate from the ‘village’ set menu. This was well cooked and presented and tasty. Very good value for money for the quality of the food. Highly recommend if you are staying in the area.

We enjoyed a fantastic dinner here -- each course was wonderfully inventive and delicious. It's more expensive than I would usually go for on vacation, but really is a bargain compared with what a similar meal would cost in the USA, and very worth it....Couldn't recommend it highly enough. You'll probably need reservations!More

The food is fantastic and the service is very good; definitely a cut above the service just about anywhere else in France. BE SURE to get reservations in advance, as they were booked for the full week we were here; we only got in because...there was a cancellation. We recommended the “Menu Gourmand” with 4 courses for a delightful evening of fine dining. My partner, who must eat gluten-free, easily and seamlessly ordered food without worry about what she could have. You will not be disappointed if you choose to dine at La Belle Etoile!More

We had a wonderful stay at this hotel made better by fantastic staff. Pierre at the front desk was superb. He was warm and friendly and anticipated our needs. Our waiter at a wonderful dinner was Jerome and he also went out of his way...to make our meal a memorable one. We commend both of these great staff.More

We were very excited to eat here as we had heard lots of great reviews. We each ordered from the 3 course 35 euro lunch menu and the food was fantastic. After the second course, we decided we weren’t quite hungry enough to have one...dessert each so we ended up splitting one. It was decent. However, when the bill came it was 74 euros and we were told that because we didn’t take all 3 courses for one of our meals we needed to pay the a la carte price. Had we ordered a second dessert and left it on the table it would’ve been cheaper. The woman at the desk in the entrance related this to “buying yogurt in bulk at the supermarket” It’s a difference of 4 euros which is not a big deal but it really makes 0 sense, had i known I would’ve ordered a dessert and allowed it to sit on the table uneaten.More
