We stopped in for a little something to eat on our way down to Christchurch. I had the hot cakes with bacon and bananas. It was very good. What I really enjoyed was a large cup of decaf coffee. It was great. Everyone that worked their was nice and it was a good place for a break.

Our group stopped at the Paddock Restaurant on our way to Kaikoura from Christchurch. Cheviot is roughly halfway between the two towns so it makes for a nice stop along the way. The food here was very good and the service excellent. Orders came out pretty quick and they had a nice variety for lunch. We had a vegetarian in... More

Feeling dreadful at having slammed this cafe last year (putting down to a bad case of blood sugar), thought I would give them a shot at redemption. They didn't disappoint. Food was fresh and tasty (and efficient). Staff happy to be there. Stark contrast to last visit I am pleased to report. Sorry for previous review. Suspect that was more... More

Travelling from Christchurch to Kaikoura, stopped for a break and had great coffee and delicious, warm cheese and onion scone, in a lovely little shady garden. Friendly service and very helpful tips for seeing the top end of South Island. Highly recommended!

Based just across the road from our motel we discovered this amazing cafe. The food was homemade and absolutely beautiful. Enjoyed 3 breakfasts plus many more snacks. Staff very friendly and welcoming. Thank you for doing our cooking while we had a relaxing time in your town

Cheviot is a lucky little town having an abundance of great cafes. Until recently I had nearly always stopped at the Two Rivers Cafe across the road (also excellent) but decided to try the Paddock for a change. This place is great! Friendly staff, good coffee and great home-made pies. Highly recommended!

Went for a Sunday Drive to Cheviot to support it. Stopped at the paddock restaurant OMG what beautiful coffee so good I had two. Food was lovely also nice and fresh and cooked to perfection. The staff are so friendly. Having a tough time at the moment with the lack of traffic so support it and thoroughly recommend.

Well worth supporting as the town copes post the earthquake. An interesting little village and while the main highway as of early Jan 2017 is only just open north to Kaikoura; a meal break here is recommended. Pleasant staff and surroundings and I wish that I could buy bacon as nice as they offer.
