It's never a good sign to be greeted on arrival by the words "The kitchen closes in 4 minutes" which will be 8 o'clock in the evening on a Bank Holiday!!! Nevertheless, we had just walked into the village on our first night there and we were hungry. Good old pub favourites of scampi and banger& mash were nice and... More

Called in for a coffee and ended up with wine and nibbles relaxing on the big comfy sofas! Very attentive bar staff who are keen to up sell, so when we were told some of the cheaper wines weren't so good I did question why a good pub would sell poor wine! It does close at 3pm for food until... More

Popped in for a coffee after walking, being easily led I ended up with wine and nibbles. Bar staff offered us a selection of wines to try and made recommendations that were great, even though the kitchen was just closed we were still able to order calamari, warm bread and olives that were fantastic, all finished with a great coffee.... The food was very slow being delivered, one meal being served around 10mins after the other main courses. This meal consisted of one small piece of Sea Bass fillet, very over cooked and a ridiculously small portion considering the cost of around £16. Service was pleasant but overall highly unsatisfactory, I shall not be going again despite it being close... More

Great food, though the vegetarian option was a little small. Friendly staff, coping with multiple dogs and small children with a smile. A Yorkshire pudding slipped from a plate, but only onto the tray the server was carrying it on, yet she replaced it automatically - we didn't ask for this it was just done as if it was the... More

Undercooked, cold food. Overpriced and extremely rude staff. I think some training needs to be implemented in this place and fast.

We stayed here whilst staying over to visit Baslow Hall for a meal. Having looked at the photos before the definitely didn't do the pub or rooms justice. It was excellent. The rooms were good... staff were friendly.... The bar was good although being OVERLY busy.... The breakfast was great too. Really enjoyed our stay, and it was well worth... More
