Good coffee as we waited for train. Prices seem to be up with city prices but our friends from Australia said this appears to norm on tourist route

Food here is exceptional, home baking, fresh cooked soup etc. This is a quaint old cafe situated in the old station at Waikino and has lots of memorabilia and country crafts to look at while you enjoy their tasty and wholesome food. Well worth a visit.

So cute, especially with the train parked up out the front. The old station has information and various items from days gone by that are on display. There is a good selection of cakes and slices, as well as pies, burgers and sandwiches. The ginger slice was a winner! Lace table cloths, kind of like being at Nana's house. :-)

This cafe is like a step back in time, and is worth visiting for that alone. The photos all around the walls is quite neat, and the whole vintage style is quite neat. My first option I picked off the menu board wasn't available (they didn't have that) which was disappointing. If you don't have it, then don't leave it... More

I go there often to take visitors for some of the best food & friendly staff. The roaring fire was going the other day & we had some of the fabulous Kumera & Blue Vein Soup. It is well worth a visit believe me.

Stopped at the Waikino Station to check out the train and the cafe. Had some morning tea - the usual, a pastry with cake and coffee.. This cafe fits the Railway Station Cafe bill.

If you like old railway stations this place is perfect. The café caters for a variety of tastes from toasted sandwiches to hamburgers, cakes, coffee and tea. There's usually a roaring fire in the dinning room and visit around mid day and you'll struggle to get a seat. The staff is always friendly and when the train from Waihi rolls... More

We rode the rail trail from Paeroa and this was our turnaround point. We popped in for a beer and lunch: we each ordered the Biker Burger and a beer and it cost $46. No sides were offered with the burger. The beers were good and the burger was inventive with tasty toppings, but the patty that they rested on... More

We were making our way from Tauranga back to Auckland on a chilly winter's morning when we decided to pop into the Waikino Station Café - located just out of Waihi on the Karangahake Gorge - for coffee. This quickly became brunch when we saw what was on offer! Four of the five of us chose bacon and eggs and... More

We stopped here for morning tea, on our way to Karangahake by bicycle. What a charming place, which excellent food and service. The teacups were warm. there was plenty of tea, and the scones and cakes were awesome.
