Staying in Rathdrum researching our family we came across a little alley at the top of the centre of town where this place stands . The food was amazing as we're the staff spotless and clean. We'll worth a visit.

Hidden down the lane and a great find as there is not much else around the area. it is buzzing so try to book. seats could do with recovering but apart from that the decor is great. food is very nice. staff are nice.

Several of the options on the limited early bird were not available-this menu expensive for the 'cheap to produce' food--20/25 e for 2/3 courses. The pear starter was tasteless and out of a tin--not the poached pear as advertised. Several people ordered pan fried plaice but were given insipid steamed hake instead, without any explanation.!!! Does this restaurant think people... More

We found Bates while hiking in Wicklow and staying in a B&B in the same tiny village. What a surprise. We were expecting to dine in a pub, but found an amazing restaurant. The building is an old historical Inn, restored beautifully, but the food was just superb. Everything we had was cooked to the perfection, mussels were my favorite,... More

For a restaurant boasting so many awards the presentation was very poor, service was not as attentive as it could have been given that there were only two tables occupied for the whole night

We were a party of 15 family members out to celebrate 2 special birthdays. The restaurant was busy but we were well positioned and did not cause too much of a fuss or intrusion of other diners privacy. We enjoyed a pleasant night of eating and drinking ending the evening in the Cartoon Inn next door. Thanks to the staff... More

I had the spinach ravioli, and it was very good. My friend had the hake and wasn't as thrilled, he could tell it wasn't fresh. They were out of tiramisu, which was disappointing because the restaurant wasn't crowded, but all in all it was decent.
