Rifugio Martina is high up a mountain above lake Como. It can be reached by car (the main parking is about 10 minutes downhill) or from a number of trails through the woods and mountains. The Refugio is big with plenty of space indoors and outdoors and tends to be very popular and very busy on weekends. They choice of... More

We walked from our hotel in Bellagio to the top of a mountain far far away, then got lost! After over 20kms of up hill, we were absolutely exhausted, so to come down a climb and find Rifugio Martina, it more than lived up to it's name!! The lady waitress was wonderful, we were exhausted hungry and thirsty, and had... More

We stopped at this restaurant before starting our hike to Monte San Primo. It was quite busy but we were quickly served. the Polenta, which you can order with different meat or cheese was excellent. We were unsure of the round walk to Monte Primo and asked the very nice lady who served us. She couldn't have been more helpful... More

You will be mesmerised by the view of this place. The owner is really nice and friendly You have to go for a 10 minutes hike after you park the car but it s definitely worth it. They serve great beer and wine along with amazing appetisers. The famous meal is polenta with butter and cheese aling with meat stew.

A place with a stunning view on Lago di Como, that has a menu of mainly polenta based dishes that taste great. The prices are OK too, and the rifugio is a good starting point to climb further to the summit of the Monte San Primo, that is a few hundred metres in altitude higher (but keep in mind that... More

Located on the top of a hill, you can easily reach it with a pleasant 15' walk through a wood. It's a rustic restaurant with an amazing view of the lake. Short list of very tasty dishes: cornmeal mush is served with braised meat, deer or sausages. Deserts are on average. Good price (about 15 each)

Rifugio Martina is definitely one of those "gem" places you're proud to have found, especially as there is a bit of a hike up from the car park to help build your appetite. The walk to it is worth it in itself, but once you get a table outside overlooking one of the most panoramic views you'll come across in... More

Rifugio on top of mountain San Primo. A breathtaking view of lake Como. You can reach IT on foot for the last half an hour. From there you can admire Isola Comacina and Ossuccio. Take a field glass with You. Local food to eat with Polenta ( Maize). max.

Our local guide advised us to avoid center of Bellagio on a sunny day because it would be packed so we ended up going here instead. A tough steep hike up which we did with our dogs (great walk for them btw) and then we tried the local speciality. The polenta is a very filling meal. We weren't able to... More
