While the restaurants has both meat and seafood dishes, the speciality is trout. They have a least 30 different ways of preparing the trout. Nine of us went to the restaurant and each got a different style... and all were loved. Smoked (served hot), fried, grilled with guajillo( a mild pepper), chopped almonds, mango, etc. The ambience is fun and... More

The restaurant offers a wide range of plates (sea food, mexican, etc) If you go you must try the "Caldo o Chilpachole de mariscos". They will welcome you with hand made tortillas and totopos to dip in one of the also delicious salsas. It is busy place, there was a waiting list with 4 groups ahead of me and I... More

Have you eaten boneless trout? This restaurant offersca wide variety, for example: Trout with almonds, trout with mango, chilintrout. All of them with home hand tortillas. Previously you may order different typical beverages, called "toritos" be careful with them. And you must order a cup of coffee... Delicious!!

Trout, trout and more trout! If you like seafood and are in the Xalapa, Veracruz area this is THE place to go. There must be 30 different ways they cook trout and I have had several of them. I liked them all but the fried (what is not best fried?) is at the top of the list. Service is good... More

We had a wonderful afternoon in Catepec and were lucky to have eaten lunch at this wonderful eatery just out of town on a gravel road well out of the normal tourist habitat. Very good trout a la Veracruzano and a nice play area for the kids. We never would have found this place without knowing locals. Good prices, good... More

We ate at the restaurant in town. Even though it was very crowded, the service was excellent. We shared a bunch of appetizers, a few pitchers of passion fruit juice, and several different main courses. My favorite was trout in acuyo sauce. The acuyo plant (also called hoja santa) besides having medicinal purposes is very tasty. You can wrap fish... More

Tucked away in the country in a beautiful peaceful setting is this interesting family run restaurant. Nestled in a forested valley with a gently running creek, trout farm, singing birds and sweet drifting fragrances, El Tio Yeyo's setting is ultimately relaxing and peaceful. The food is exquisitely prepared and tasty. Overall it makes for a great outing for family or... More

There is the 'in town' Tio Yeyo and there is the Tio Yeyo in the countryside. The later is probably best accessed by taking a taxi... but well worth the trip. The setting is lovely: forests, river, trout farm, cabanas and a rambling restaurant with views. The menu, not surprisingly, is all about trout. Actually, there are 41 different ways... More
