My husband and I ordered the Mother’s Day special and what a treat! The strawberry, pecan, feta, and spring mix salad was fresh and tasty. My husband had the balsamic steak fettuccine Alfredo and said it was excellent. I ordered the lemon chicken entree and...it was a generous portion and delicious. However, the real star of the meal was the homemade strawberry shortcake with real whipped cream and fresh strawberries. The portion was huge but both my husband and I gobbled it up! The next day my husband came home from work and said, “ I can’t stop thinking about that cake; it was so good!” We’d love to order the cake for a special occasion, like every Sunday. Thanks Gateway staff for a wonderful meal.More
In area doing real estate business; place was 'recommended' - appeared at first sight to be traditional family-style eatery. Coffee was great and refilled regularly. Meat lovers omelettes had wee bacon 'bits' and about 4 pieces of sausage, scant mozza cheese and no 'gravy' as...was advertised on menu. Friend had one pancake - raw in middle. One order of perogies .. was to come with ONIONS, BACON & SOUR CREAM...arrived in a soup bowl servery with no onions bacon or sour cream and looked like something one might make at home if no one was around to see how blah it looked! Had a slight bacon/onion taste, but def no morsels of either onion or bacon and NO sour cream. Food pricey for what one gets. Waitress did apologize - they were out of ham (but saying that, there's a Valumart down the street if the food order had not yet arrived!). Young kids were amusing themselves in a back room (and not really a big deal, but it is mid-COVID and prob a bad place for kids to be hanging out while parents work). We were seated, socially-distanced, patrons did wear masks and use hand sanitizer and info re name/phone/address was taken as per protocol. Very bare bones establishment, and as one other reviewer stated, bathroom could use $200 spent on improvements (proper doorlock and some wall and door repairs). Would not recommend and would never go back. Subway and a jaunt to the town lakeside would have been a better choice and def cheaper.More
Stopped here many times on way through. Stopped on Saturday 13 th. The young lady was very freindly with the greeting and service. We arrived about 10 AM and we order clubs instead of breakfast. They very good.
Now, the bathrooms are in dire need...of not just a cleaning but complete over hall. Don't need to spend a lot. Vanity and floor is cheep. The men's room was nasty. Just makes you wounder what the behind the scene is like, kitchen? Two clubs and fries, two coffee and $5. Tip $40.00More
Every time we drive from Toronto to the Ottawa valley, we make sure to stop over at the Gateway restaurant. And I almost always get their hot beef sandwich (or turkey, when it's Thanksgiving or Xmas time).
Food was average, nothing to rave about, went for lunch with our daughter. Our server was friendly but she was slow and screwed everything up from ordering to the bill, it wasn't busy and it wasn't just us, she also eves dropped on our conversation and...took the liberty to join in. I wouldn't go out of my way to recommend or discourage a visit, but I will not be returning. It was our first and last visit.More
Everything was good, but busy.. only one server and she was rushed, last minute booking, they could of called some one in to help, someone came in and cleaned and did dishes (she had bad breath), they should of called another waitress in to work/...help out with the rush. food overly priced for what I gotMore
