This is a fantastic pub! Situated on the rail, ale trail. The selection of real ales and ciders is exceptional. Good food also. Events throughout the year. Really worth a visit. Good crowd of people passing through. Beer garden and stage outside. Honestly a great place to visit. Always had a good time here, with no hassle.

The old waiting room of Dewsbury station is one on the trans pennine route that attracts real ale and train buffs alike. It is friendly, often busy and has a great range of beers on tap. They also happily serve tea and coffee! A simple menu of pie and peas, sandwiches, with more exotic options of falafel and lamb kebabs... More

Visited on a cold and very wet Friday lunchtime. Terrific selection of cask ale and good value home cooked food. Lots of railwayana on display plus log fires! Arrived around 1pm, around 15 punters in, 10 minutes later 40 people arrived off a train on a pub crawl.

Haven't been out in Dewsbury for years, so this was a pleasant surprise. Perfectly located right next to the railway station (and the taxis). A fine selection of real ales on tap (Mudslinger was good stuff). Good atmosphere, pretty cheap. We'll be back.

I met up with an old friend for our annual chinwag as we were able to meet off trains from east and west. The impressive range of beers with 10 hand pumps must suit anyone who enjoys a good pint such as Black Sheep, which I sampled. Unfortunately I had just missed the homemade pie by a day (served only... More

Just a great selection of good beers, especially like the fact you can get a taster, or the do 3 gills for £3 (at least I think it was that cost), no airs and graces, just good beer.

Thank Nigel T

Real Ale, Real Cider, Real Food, Real Fires, Real People, Real Passion...Real Pub. Situated in the original waiting room, on Platform 2, of Dewsbury train station The West Riding was the first member of the beerhouses family, back in 1994, its' our flag ship pub, it's success and experience has been passed on to the other four pubs in the group... Inviting, friendly, approachable staff and customers, facilitating an inkling that after one visit, you're pretty much a regular and will be welcomed back fondly with open arms and a big grin! We've a top notch selection of ale from local and countrywide breweries, kept to Cask Marque quality standards. Beautiful outer architecture, enhanced by cascading ivy on the front of the building. Inside a three room set up with quirky signs and pictures adorning the walls, giving a weary traveller a feast for the eyes as well as the palate. The West Riding Refreshment Rooms is part of the Transpennine Real Ale Trail.
