Another old establishment that I managed to visit while in Batu Pahat was the most famous kwai chap place in Batu Pahat. After finishing my meeting in JB, I drove up north back to BP and timed my journey to reach the town around noon time. My trusted Waze brought my directly to the restaurant.
Located on the same floor, they share the same building as Batu Pahat's Rubber Dealers Association. They don't allow indoor seating at that moment (I didn't ask, but most likely due to MCO) so I had to order on the spot where they took my order and then paid the bill before taking my seat along the corridor outside. Lucky for me.. it wasn't that hot & stuffy that day.
As I was Hans Solo that day... I couldn't order much:
◾Kwai chap - silky smooth square rice sheets doused with light and aromatic herbal soup. Love their little touch by topping with fried garlic which made it tasted better.
◾Braised meat - many type of meats available, even spare parts. I went for their pork belly, pork skin and braised egg. Don't forget to dip into the given chilly sauce. Quite good I'd say.
◾Fried spring roll - not the best but definitely above average.
◾Salted vegetable
Note: there's a truck outside selling crackers made of tapioca, potato and others... Quite good so if you love, just buy.

For my hubby, its childhood memories. Lots of people recommended this place, so he bring me to taste the kway chap. But, just not my taste, quite salty foods. Even my hubby said so.
And the price, its expensive.
For those who like heavy taste, can have a try.

Always having lunch there with hubby and friends. Especially friends from outstation. This is to introduce them what nice and special in batu pahat. I can say this store is able to represent one of the delicious food in batu pahat. Staffs are well trained and friendly. The only thing that you need to aware of is waiting time.

Was excited when recommended to try this store at BP. Was told one and only in BP. The Kway was ready good, can't deny. The remaining portion so so only.
In term of price at local contact, it's consider expensive.
No big deal. First timer can try. But trancate your expectation.

People with tight a budget should not visit this shop as the price of the food is very expensive. The food offered is a simple Chinese Teochew meal known as "kwai chap" to the Chinese. This simple meal used to be sold by the Malaysian and Singapore chinese on roadside stalls or pushcarts. These stalls used to be frequented mostly by poor chinese workers, because it is one of the cheapest meal sold in those days. Nowadays those who say this meal is cheap are mostly singaporeans, who visit malaysia and savor it here. Most locals complaint that it is ridiculously expensive!
