The Jolly Sailor, Porthcawl produces a very good Sunday Roast, served by friendly and efficient Staff. There are two sittings, 12.30 and 14.30 with the choice of Welsh Beef, pork, and Lamb, roast potatoes and a platter of perfectly cooked veg, peas, carrots, cabbage, cauliflower and mash! Gravy comes as standard, though the mustard and the apple sauce were forgotten... More

We called in this friendly old pub after a nice walk with the dog on Newton Beach. They are dog friendly and we enjoyed a very tasty Sunday lunch at a very reasonable price. The welcome was warm and the ale good - what more do you want!

Beautiful food, excellent service from beginning to end. The seabass was melt in the mouth and the home made pie to die for. A good selection of wines and a seat in front of the wood burner sealed a very enjoyable evening. Friendly and good value for money. Dog friendly too.

A traditional pub adorned with many interesting pictures etc showing Porthcawl's marine history. Warm and welcoming with outside seating which faces the lovely St. John's Church and village green.

The four of us enjoyed a super lunch here. The pub was immaculate (smelling slightly of bleach as the doors were unlocked but that serves us right for being there so promptly!) and the food was perfect! Proper pub grub, delicious and plentiful. The staff were friendly and efficient and the atmosphere for a Saturday lunch was great (fellow diners... More

Decided to go here last night having heard it had new management. Bar staff extremely welcoming and efficient. My son and myself had a lovely meal very reasonably priced well set out and very tasty. Understand its being refurbished soon and will be even better.

I understand this lovely pub is under new management . The food under the last management was excellent . The welcome was good from front of house but the food was dire !! Over cooked and tasteless . Won't be eating there again . So difficult to complain when you're a guest and someone else is paying . I have... More

Went there today..4/12/16..lovely pub.. Friendly staff.. Shame no bar snacks in the afternoon... But the biggest issue is the toilets.. Well I can only speak about the gents.. Mould on sink..peeling paint..stench beyond belief.. Sorry..but if you can't keep your toilets clean what is the kitchen like!!??

Great to see this traditional village local under friendly, welcoming management again. Beer is great as always, and menu is developing a good reputation. looking forward to making many more excuses to drag myself down here again and again!
