We were headed to another restaurant but could not get a table. We were welcomed in and decided to sit outside (early May) the server tried to discourage us but was very polite and set up a table. A few windy cold minutes in we realized we made a wrong decision and they happily seated us inside. Although its almost... More

My husband and I absolutely loved the food, atmosphere and service we received at Trattoria il Rifugio. From appetizer to dessert, we were not disappointed. They also have beautiful artwork displayed that the owners did themselves. Highly recommend this beautiful place to everyone!

If you can cope with having a parrot in a cage that makes sudden eruptive noises and a few beautiful rare whistles, and eating watching nightmare pictures on grey walls, you get very fine dishes and excellent wine. In particular we enjoyed a special spinach and ricotta soup, a tasty rabbit in a lovely prune and raisins sauce and a... More

This is a fun trattoria with both indoor and outdoor seating. You will find typical Tuscan fare and the warm hospitality of the Maremma region. I had a faggioli e faro soup that was wonderful. We also enjoyed the eggplant antipasto. The pastas are all great. We highly recommend Il Rifugio.

I might be biassed but as I travel around all the time I know I'm not: try the taglioni con coniglio e radicchio rosso - tagliolini with rabbit and red chicory! - Paola's recipe, just great !

We stayed in Manciano for a week and we visited this restaurant 3-4 times. They were able to seat our party of 8, and we had great service. The fired vegetable appetizer and the green star ravioli are not to be missed.

Enchanting restaurant built into the hillside with unbelievable gnocchi. Request to sit on the balcony as the sun goes down.

Maybe it was a mistake to try and find a restaurant open on the night that England was playing Iceland in Euro 2016 but we were on Manciano and wandered around using Tripadvisor as our guide. Luckily the Trattoria was open, had the football on (muted) and space for a family of 7. We had a table near the window... More

It was so good, we came back for our final night of vacation. The first night all four of us had something different and we couldn't decide who ordered the best meal. I had venison in a wonderful morellini de scanso wine sauce that just melted in your mouth. The fried sliced zucchini was mouthwatering. Others had beef and different... More
