We started Christmas early at The Magpie, it was excellent, Elle and Rodney were great hosts. I had Parsnip Soup, and the Brixham Crab was very popular; the Devon Lamb Shoulder was a large serving, as was the Cheese platter. We were entertaining clients - with the view over the river it was a fun lunch.

I came here in May. Awful. Full environment. Horrible food. Rude staff. Uncomfortable. Never going back. Avoid if you can.

"The Magpie" is definitely the place to spend your afternoon. We had planned a four-day trip to London to do some sight-seeing around the city, but we thought that we could try something different from those busy restaurants in town on our last day, just before heading home. From the very beginning, the service was impeccable and they sat us... More

This is a great old pub its in a great location, it strikes a good balance between being busy but not overcrowded, however it is unnecessarily expensive, they would certainly receive more visits from us if they didn't price themselves so high.

We went for Sunday Lunch in the bar, fantastic food, excellent service, this place never disappoints. It was early afternoon - a bit after 2 and hadn't booked, a choice of tables and the usual excellent fayre, there are cheaper sunday roasts around, but the one served here is always excellent.

The Magpie has a great location on the River Thames and some pleasant staff, but our recent visit was marked by a very cold restaurant,(where the back door was stuck open and the front river windows do not shut) and incredible over pricing. The food was average but we were charged London restaurant prices. Surely they can not get away... More

Beer was horrible and the Coke was flat. Nice old pub, in a great location on the river but other than that pretty average.

I visited this pub on Saturday. It was the first time I'd been out in this area and was pleasantly surprised. It's set in a very quaint area and has a beautiful view from the beer garden. The drinks were moderately expensive but I would expect that for this area. I didn't eat, just drank...but wine was presented with an... More

Went for Sunday lunch with a girlfriend, fancied a change of scenery so headed to Sunbury. The outdoor area of the restaurant/bar over looks the River Thames and even allows visitors coming by boat to moor up against the wall and come straight in. Its a fantastic view while you tuck into the amazing food, would recommend the snickerbocker glory... More

Travelled with a group of friends on a boat to The Magpie. We had booked a table for 12 for Sunday lunchtime. The weather was good so there were plenty of customers there. I'd read other reviews on TripAdvisor that morning and was slightly apprehensive. However, we found it to be a great experience. We had roasts (being a Sunday)... More
