We met a friend here for lunch and were very impressed with the warm welcome and excellent food. It’s a family run business and it was obvious how much care and pride they take in everything they do. We were offered a choice of menus, all very reasonably priced. We can recommend the Beef and Guinness stew served with fresh and well cooked vegetables and the fish and chips with a really good tartar sauce and mushy peas followed by individual, delicious pots of lime cheesecake.
Popular but we didn’t feel crowded and although we didn’t take our dogs in this time there are dog friendly areas to enjoy a drink or a meal if you’re out for a walk. Highly recommended

We (Me, my wife, doughter & baby grandson) popped in a couple of weeks ago at around 4pm on a Sunday on the off chance of getting a meal. Katie and her team were so accommodating, and even though we had not booked and it was well passed lunchtime, they fitted us in. We were the last people to have Sunday Roasts that day, but you could not tell as the food was wonderfully fresh, tasty and very well priced.
Highly Recommend *****
They even do a Dog's Two Course Sunday Roast!
Thanks Katie & Team, we will be back, with the dog next time.

We were looking for somewhere to stop for a meal while on a bike ride and thought this looked a decent place. The dining area is nicely done out, and the staff very friendly, offering me to taste the Cold River cider as I hadn't tried it before.
The food was excellent and very reasonably priced - very nice lamb steaks, and nice pie with tender beef steak, both with a mixture of veg. Desserts were also good, and nicely presented.
The Tai'r Bull will be top of the list for meal next time we are in the area

Seeing as there were new owners we thought we would try out their Sunday lunches and we were not disappointed! Absolutely delicious! We had lamb and the beef and it came with some lovely vegetables like roast and boiled pots, cauli cheese, red and normal cabbage, carrots, broccoli and loads of proper gravy. Everything was cooked to perfection and I would score ten out of ten easily. Already looking forward to coming back in the next few weeks.

Wow. We booked for 19 for Sunday lunch (came highly recommended) and the food was amazing. Huge portions of roast dinner, potatoes and vegetables. One of our guys even asked the chef to cook some runner beans and that wasn’t a problem. Great to see a nice pub packed when we arrived and packed again as we left. Thank you to you abd your team

Our table was booked last minute and we choose the nearest pub to our weekend break accommodation. So we didn't come with any preconceptions other than expecting standard pub fair. Well the menu choice's were familiar but I have to say the execution was magnificent! My ribeye steak, served with a generous amount of chips mushrooms, small salad and peppercorn sauce was absolutely delicious. I enthusiastically recommend this pub. It's great. it's everything you would want in a pub.

We are a group of hikers staying locally in Brecon for our Annual Festive Walking Weekend break, and we booked a table for our annual Christmas Meal at the Tai'r Bull. This was a fantastic experience, with a five course menu, we were delighted from the time we set foot through the door. The table decorations were amazing, the whole atmosphere was fabulous, along with a great festive ambience. We were welcomed and cared for as soon as we arrived.
The food was out of this world and the service second to none. Kate and her children all went above and beyond to look after us. Kate's husband, the chef, served the most delicious 5 course Christmas Menu. It looked fantastic, tasted fantastic and was devoured by us all. Everything was cooked to perfection. All the food came out piping hot, fantastic portion sizes and it all came out in a timely manner in between courses, allowing us all enough time to play some table trivia and have a little fun at the table. Katies daughters - the waitresses' were attentive, caring and there at hand when we asked for any little extras, like top up of gravy or dressings. The eldest daughter knew all our drinks and kept us topped up and was always checking if we needed more, just amazing! Kate's son, always clearing the table and collecting any empty glasses.
The evening was absolutely perfect, I would highly recommend The Tai'r Bull to all.
Well done everyone.. you are absolutely smashing this!! We can't wait to return.

Came here today for my second Xmas meal, OMG!!! Amazing doesn’t even come close, the whole place was beautifully decorated like Santa’s Grotto, the food was 100% slot on, so delicious, massive portions, we had 5 courses, such value for money, we even had a box provided to take home what we couldn’t manage.
Totally Autism friendly, we have a son with Autism who struggles with food, they catered for all of his needs, even checked with each course how he wanted it presented, (chopped or whole/ hot or cold etc) why does nobody else do this?
Great disabled toilet with baby changing facilities too. Fantastic family run business. Big mumma would be so proud ❤️❤️❤️

We went for food on Father’s Day. It was a pre set menu which my children wouldn’t eat. Staff were very friendly and helpful and worked with us to find a meal the children would eat, which they really enjoyed. Staff chatted to us like old friends making us feel so welcome. We had our 7 month old puppy who was sleeping, they even made sure he was comfortable. They have a doggy menu which is a lovely touch making it a lovely place for the whole family! The food was delicious. We will defiantly be back to try the food from the regular menu!

What’s to say? Great service, good banter and outrages salads. We had freshly cooked Tuna steak which was cooked to perfection, one of us had Cajun steak and was perfectly cooked nice and pink whilst another had the honey and mustard chicken salad. All in all it was a super evening with some of the best and freshest food we had while away in Wales. Lots of singing coming from the kitchen just shows how these guys get on as a team with plenty of Laughs

Called ahead and booked a table for a weekday evening. The staff were really friendly and accommodating, nothing was too much trouble. They were happy to go through the menu and advise on the specials they had available in addition to their menu. Lots of choices in the menu, and the food was excellent. Great experience.

A good atmosphere, very cosy, warm, lovely decor, & busy bar.
We had a very warm welcome by the very friendly staff and so did our dog too.
4 of us had a meal tonight in the restaurant.
3 of us had steak &ale pie which was absolutely delicious and the other choice was Ham/egg/chips which was enjoyed too.
Despite the restaurant having been full and a very large table next to us, everyone was served very quickly and the food was equally good.
Would thoroughly recommend.
The staff go above and beyond to ensure you have a nice dining experience.

We were passing through and fancied a bite to eat. I had Big Mamas Chicken Curry Rich & Chips which amazingly tasty!
My wife Ali went for the vegetarian Ratatouille which was equally as awesome!
We went with our dog Milo so we decided to sit outside and enjoy the views.
Katie and her team were so sweet...they brought Milo a bowl of tasty sausages and he woofed them up sharpish 😋
Lovely people and atmosphere, gorgeous surroundings and very sensibly priced for great home cooked food!
We will definitely pop back and visit again and highly recommend it to everyone

This has to be the nicest and most accommodating pub I have ever been to. We were very late for our reservation (we are slower walkers than we thought) and we arrived damp (we fell in a river), but despite all that the Inn still made us feel very welcome. The restaurant was busy and had a lovely cosy atmosphere. The food was delicious and the generous portions were exactly what we needed after a long walk up Pen Y Fan! After eating we all slipped into food comas, and so left many of our belongings drying on one of the radiators. I contacted the pub when we realised and they posted the items to us first class. Amazing customer service, will definitely be back!!!

Fantastic little find today, Sunday lunch after a walk up Pen Y Fan. Staff were very welcoming and friendly, service was excellent and food was absolutely delicious. I have a gluten allergy and they couldn’t of been more accommodating. They even catered for the dog, 2 courses, Sunday dinner in her very own dog bowl and doggy ice cream for dessert. Will absolutely be back. ❤️

Congratulations on the walk! Allergies are important to me so there is something for everyone and no one goes without so I’m pleased the girls helped you out and that worked for you.
