We recently had our wedding reception here. All I can say is - it was amazing from start to finish! John, Sue and their lovely granddaughter honestly could not have done more for us. The food was wonderful, staff friendly and accommodating and the whole area looked fantastic. Extras were added to make it that little more special (card post... More

Just had a fantastic Sunday lunch in The Rising Sun. Lovely home cooked food. No frozen or bought-in rubbish. The home-made desserts are to die for too! Service cannot be faulted and neither can the price. No wonder this restaurant is so busy!

We visited as a large party. We had a lovely welcome from the waitress. Food was good - although my only issue was with regard to the broccoli and stilton pasta bake; it had no hint of stilton in it - which made a blasé, albeit tasty, vegetarian cheesy pasta bake. My husband enjoyed his sirloin steak, which was cooked... More

My family decided to have a meal with relatives last minute to save cooking. I was busy so didn't get there until almost 9pm but the board outside said food served until 9.30 The others had just ordered when I arrived but the lady behind the bar was quite negative saying it too late but the young man dealing with... Not much to say about this pub apart from - lovely home cooked food, great beers! And friendly staff. It's a lovely little pub and my only criticism is the seating is uncomfortable and that's a shame because otherwise we would have stayed longer.

My meal was fine but my wife had issues with her meal as she found the poultry to be rather tough. The menu asked people to be patient as the meals were home cooked but i though that 80 minutes was excessive.

Friendly staff and nice atmosphere. This pub serves good quality food at reasonable prices and we will visit there again.

I would recommend this pub, I would pre book a table as it can get busy, its a real old traditional pub unlike many carverys where you feel hurried, it offers a relaxed atmosphere and the service together with food its very good, the area has many attractions so you could make a great day out. I have now sat... More
