Visited this pub a couple of times during our stay in Bishop's Castle. Can't speak for the food as we didn't eat but the quality of the beers from the brewery next door was excellent Cleric's Cure and XXX being my particular favourites! Staff were great with dog and gave him a couple of biscuits which he loved. Cosy open... More

Superb evening meal, beer very good staff very attentive couldn't fault the service. Early January evenings, some restaurants are closed and it was good to find a pub open and friendly.

One of the outstanding countryside pubs. Situated in the old town of Bishops Castle. Great food and a selection of great ales brewed a few yards away. Multiple rooms some food orientated some more traditional pub style.

Sadly we were rather disappointed as the food was not as good as we had expected. Steak very chewy, duck - small portion and one of the fish was not fully cooked, they had none left so my friend had to order a different meal. However the pork dish was very tasty and all the food was very hot. Good... More

Had been recommended by a local, saw on website that food started At 6.30pm. We turned up to a half empty pub at 6, got asked by a grumpy barman if we wanted to eat, said yes, he told us we couldn't have food till 7.30, no apologies or any conversation so we left sharply and went to the Boars... A really nice pub, one of the best in town. I had a delicious steak and chips washed down with marvellous beers from the brewery next door. Staff were great too. A vibrant, friendly atmosphere. Definitely worth another visit.

Shared lunch with friends from the Christmas Menu. Good value well cooked food. Not exceptional but good menu choices and pleasant service. For three of us the beer added to the occasion!

Not often I've had food of this quality. Ordered a starter and main between us. Both were stunning. Smoked mackerel pate done very well. As for the venison casserole....I've never had a casserole this good outside of home cooking. The meat was to die for and the gravy was deep, rich and complex. Was truly bowled over. By the way,... Called in at the Three Tuns during a visit to the town, lured in by its reputation for Real Ale and top class food. Sadly only got to sample the Ale as food is restricted limited hours, and the had stopped serving at the time of our visit 3.30 pm. However the menus looked really good and we will make... More

The place is very welcoming and all staff very pleasant. Plenty of space to move around and enjoy the Inns surroundings.
