We visited this place as part of a tour group and this was the best brewry and best tasting beer I've had since my travels in brasil. Very knowledgable brewer whom puts product over profit. Best quality ingredients and brewing methods I've come across and highly recommend this place for an afternoon or night of great beer.

Having settled in Canela, coming from Germany, some descendants of the Bausch family nourished the wish of producing a high quality beer here, rescuing the expertise transmitted from the cradle since 1763. In 2003, the dream comes true, in the facilities constructed almost in a homemade style as the beer they produced. Since then, it became a tourist attraction of the town, built in a park of four hectares of native woods, Cervejaria do Farol is set in a building in which 18 thousand basalt stones were used in its construction, and they were worked in ashlar style, using a chisel and a stone-mason's hammer. Such care in the construction had the goal of matching with the excellence of the drink and the authentic German cuisine there produced as well as served.
The basic principle, in the making of the beer, was to follow the German Purity Law (or the Bavarian Purity Decree created in 1516), which establishes that its composition must contain solely water, malt, hop and yeast. With a restrict production, all the phases of the making of Farol beer are followed by brewer Mateus .

In a stylish brewery, there are many beer styles:
In 2011, Pilsen and Weiss became permanent beer options of Cervejaria do Farol.
Pilsen: it has got 4.5% of alcohol, golden color, lots of foam, bread, biscuit and ferment smell. It is a beer with malt and cereal aromas, much highlighted hop, refreshing and a final flavor with pleasant bitterness.
Weiss: it has got 4% of alcohol, straw color, medium and consistent foam, amber. It is a beer with a basis of wheat malt and barley malt, natural aromas of banana and clove, discretely hop, refreshing and aromatic.
Several styles are also produced at specific times and with limited storage.
