We had to go to the Carron, home of the deep fried mars bar. It is a simple fish & chip shop and that is what you get. Friendly staff and good quality food. they obviously get a lot of tourists and indeed the couple in front of us had ordered a deep fried mars bar. The staff were careful... More

Locals likes it, that means it is really best in town. I really enjoyed fish and chips. It was kindo of interesting to try here invented deepfried mars bar. It was not something magical or even very tasty, but it was worth to get there, just to try in the birthplace of it. The cheef of the restaurant was nominated... More

Stonehaven has a couple of very good fish and chip shops The carron is my favourite, never tried the deep fried mars bar but often see tourists buying them.

We stumbled here before the fireballs on new years eve/hogmanay and so glad we did. A large selection menu of cooked to order delicious food. We had haddock and chips and one person tried the haggis pudding - all were lovely and very reasonably priced.

The staff was very friendly with three crazy Americans barraging them with questions about the area. The fish and chips were awesome! Fresh fish and perfect chips in generous portions.

Called in before fireballs and we really enjoyed the very fresh chips plus amazing battered mars bar. Friendly quick service and very well organised.

Was a little skeptical as to how it would taste, but oh my goodness anyone in the area has to come here. It can't be good for you, but my does it taste good!

Having spent many years in the US, although this is a takeaway food shop, this is the opposite of a US takeaway. The fish is cooked to order, as are the chips. There are signs up telling the customer where the day's fish came from, the source and type of potatoes used to make the chips. The food is not... More
